Who do you like?
I'm prediciting an upset tonight. I'm basing this totally on a hunch.
Ohio State 27
LSU 23
I just hope it's a good game.

Last year, i felt the underdog, Florida, would beat the favorite...OSU.
This year, the favorite, LSU, stomps OSU IMO.
LSU- 48
OSU- 20

I have no idea why I feel that Ohio State is going to win this game. I can't explain it. In a few hours you can all tell me that I just lost my mind.

Well, so far LSU looks like a team that's been sitting around for a month... and despite the fact OhowIhateOhioState has been sitting around for almost *2* months, they look like they beat the snot out of somebody last week. IMO, the secret of Bowl Readiness is one of the great mysteries of college football...

OK, 2 minutes into the 2nd quarter and it looks like there are 2 actual teams on the field now... 10-all...

Of course you will. If that's where you're from, it's only right.
BTW, I've got nothing against Ohio... nor against the university... a good friend of mine got his PhD in music there... it's just their football team I don't like... it started with those damn stickers...

Just like last year, OSU gets an early lead then the better team from the better conference takes over...
17 unanswered points for LSU up to this point.

I'm a relative newcomer to following college football, but I have to say that I'm already sick and tired of constantly hearing about how great the SEC is and how awful the Big Ten is.
I get it. The SEC is the best conference. Just shut up about it already.

Not me, this is the first and last time I'll be rooting for Ohio State. It is cool seeing Road Warrior Animal though.

I agree that talking about it is pretty pointless. Much better to watch college football all-fall-long, and make up your own mind. The bowls give one point of comparison, but nothing like watching it week-in and week-out...

The bowls that match up the 2 conferences are one of the best ways to compare the two conferences. Watching the Big 10 play the Big 10 and the SEC play the SEC gives no real comparison.

In this situation discussing SEC and Big 10 is reasonable. They are playing each other in the National Championship.
If you don't want to hear about it anymore, don't read it. There's plenty of other stuff on this site to read...

True, but it does give you a clue about top-to-bottom goodness, which IMO is where the SEC really shines... a lot more than you might think if you just looked at conference standings...

And that's where it stops... LSU goofs and OSU turns it into 7... 31-17 with a couple left in the 3rd.
Looked like the LSU receiver zigged when he was s'posed to zag, so the pass went right to the DB.
Soon after, OSU went for it on 4th down at the 5 and made it.

No doubt in my mind that those were the two most talented teams. But there is something to be said for earning the opportunity to play for a title which USC did not. And while they are the most talented team in the SEC, the inconsistency displayed by LSU makes me wonder whether or not they were the best team in the SEC. This would of been a great year for an 8 team playoff.

USC would have earned it if not for injuries...They are clearly the best team IMO.
Agree about the playoff....Hell, if LSU wins tonight, I am not even sure they should be the slam dunk title winner.

I don't wanna annoy anybody with SEC-Big10 talk, but that 4th-and-7 when LSU got to the OSU QB and knocked the ball loose is IMO a perfect example of the diff:
OSU kept lotsa guys back to block, thinking that building a fort around the QB was safer... which means they only had a couple of receivers. I told my dog they were gonna get the QB way before it happened. LSU is good enough to cover-up just a couple of receivers, and there's no way that the OSU line can protect the QB for very long, no matter how many guys they keep back.
.
An SEC team would not have done that vs LSU. They would've sent out max-receivers to give the QB max-options, and they would've protected the QB the only way possible vs. a team like LSU: by moving the QB off to the side, so the D has to run after him to get him, thus giving him time to find a receiver.
Just an opinion...

Who knows, they may have been although I don't think it was clear. With the awful system we have we didn't get to see them match up in a bowl against a worthy opponent which is a real shame. Same goes for UGA... If not for the stupid conference alignments a UGA/USC matchup would of made for a heck of a game.

There goes that gambler, Les Miles, refusing to punt. Doesn't he know it's unsportsmanlike to convert 4th downs and not give the other team a chance to have the ball?

I agree with your main point, but the part about LSU being inconsistent, you can pretty much say something like that about whoever anybody's favorite is. They all have something to explain, every one of them. "Team-X looked like they could be great except for [insert one of several normal college football problems]."

It's true that every team had some issues at one time or another. However LSU seemed to have more of 'em than a team that talented should of had. I know every game in the SEC is tough but if you look at their season they had more close calls by not playing up to their potential than say a Georgia did against a similar caliber of competetion.

Who do you think would win a LSU-Ga game? I root for Ga whenever they're not playing GT, but I think LSU would beat them. It'd be a good game though.
Congrats to LSU. I don't think the was really a case of LSU being that much better than OSU, more of a case of OSU making more mistakes imo. 3 to's and 4 or 5 personal fouls killed them, they actually out gained LSU for the game. So I wouldn't reach any conclusions about LSU having too much speed or the SEC being so much better than the Big Ten from this game. Now, the SEC is easily bigger than the Big Ten imo, but this game doesn't show that anymore than Michigan beating UF would show the opposite.
And obviously a playoff is needed, it's been obvious for a long time, but this year is a great example of why it's needed. It was hard to distinguish between the top teams this year, and I don't feel there is a clear champion this year. USC and Georgia are both at least as good as LSU imo.

True, but Florida did play an awful game defensively. Though the SEC is better, they are not going to win every single bowl game that they play against the Big 10.

I say Georgia. Much more consistent and they don't have Les Miles as their coach. Once they figured out to give the ball to Knowshon, they became a different beast.
