Doesn't sound too promising, but heck, it's better than nothing.
Best case scenario there would be an 8 team playoff, but the 4 team system is still much better than the current BCS system.

That sounds a helluva lot more promising than anything they've ever said before. The only obstacle they mentioned was the Rose Bowl. At least they're admitting it, which is way different than before.
They can bribe the Rose Bowl by giving them the NC game, and live with the 4-team series for a contract cycle. Then, once that door is open, it'll go to 8 teams, that much is inevitable, for both good reasons and stupid bowl-related reasons. Personally, I hope it stops there, simply because personally I think 8 is the right number.
