I was recently spending some time on Scout.com, and i noticed that the Terps have 3 Prep school players committing to the Terps. Does playing at a Prep school take away a year of eligibility or not? I know that they are there because they couldn't get in academically, but it feels like Prep school is almost a Redshirt freshman ordeal, anyone know the rule behind this?

I'm pretty sure that players coming from prep school are treated just as if they were fresh out of HS.
The only difference is if they are good enough to go pro, they can after their true sophomore year as opposed to their junior year.

Yep they will be Freshmen. Gaither and Bruce Campbell both went to prep school and both entered as freshmen.

So they do lose a year of eligibility of playing when they go to prep school, i.e. can't be redshirted?

I believe they can be redshirted and do not lose a year. They were talking about trying to red shirt Campbell before injuries set in. I am pretty sure it doesn't effect eligability at all.
