Some great times playing that game, spent many a summer days and evenings- up all night, you name it we played the hell out of that game.

We would announce the game as the cards were dealt, great fun for years.

P Jose Deleon was a ringer on my favorite team 'in that game', he played just enough the previous year to qualify, his pitching card was off the charts, it equated to a Ron Guidry 1978 like season, so I sent him out there as my ace every 4th day :002_scool:

Play it? I practically lived it.

Not only did I play complete seasons of at least 10 different teams, I cracked the formulas (the ones on the back of the rules weren't right) and created handmade custom cards for the 1977-1991 American League (the years I attended games at Memorial Stadium).

My highlights were winning the World Series with a team of Dominican-born American Leaguers from the 2000 season (thanks Pedro!) and the only no-hitter in those thousands of hours/games by Jason Bere.

I and my friend Mike used to play that until the wee hours at night. I would use the Cardinals a lot, from the mid-eighties, and boy that team could run! :D

It was the best baseball 'game' I ever played, and he would concur. Unfortunately this thread will likely be moved, as this belongs probably in the 'Games' forum.

Good memories though, very good indeed. :)

Loved it, what a game! I had almost all the seasons. Favorite team to play in Statis Pro was the 1987 Tigers. You throw Doyle Alexander (SP9) into the rotation and combine with a powerful lineup and they were a tough customer!

Oh my...wasn't aware of the forum policy where to start certain threads.

Yes those damn Cardinals, always running and slapping the ball all over the place...Tommy Herr, Lonnie and Ozzie Smith, McGee, Hernandez, Hendrick and Oberkfell

They were tough to deal with...they were thin on starters , that was usually what got them , eventually lol

And Statis Pro pretty much allowed you to steal at will with SP A's. Come to think of it stealing home was usually a pretty safe play to try.

Correct, stealing bases was somewhat out of balance.

We eventually made our own rule about stealing home which made it next to impossible.

Exactly, that was also somewhat of a flaw of the game, you could take a guy who had limited stats, came over in a trade or only pitched part of the year and use him to full advantage.

It was high tech stuff at the time though and the game played out pretty realistically otherwise.
