I don't think I've been this mad in a VERY long time.............

I sat on the boards most of the morning, then hung out with my mom some. When I go out to my car around 3 this afternoon guess what? Someone decided they wanted to play in it last night. I'm assuming that I left it unlocked, which I can't believe I did. I NEVER leave it unlocked in the driveway. Crap I'm in Edgewood, it's like an open invitation. Well.... the panel under my steering wheel was popped off, and some genius tried to hot wire my car. Well they failed at that because they FREAKING SUCK AT LIFE!!!!!!!! Then they grabbed a screwdriver or something and JAMMED it into my ignition, completely chewing it up and destroying it. So, now. I have no car, because the ignition is in pieces. Thankfully these morons didn't slice any wires. When the good ol' Harford County Sheriff's came, he told me that, "After I'm done with your report, I have to go a block up and take another car break in report." SO, someone was bored last night.

And I say this -- I have a gorgeous 07 Cobalt, aka "Coby the Cobalt, Hon!" and all I can do to keep myself from being too pissed off, is feel sorry for the LOSER PIECE OF CRAP WORTHLESS GUTTER LICKING SCREWBALL that did this, because they obviously can't afford a gorgeous car like mine, so they have to try and steal it. I mean seriously, what else can I think right now?

Second - person who tried to break into my car - you are seriously an IDIOT. My license plates say LASAGNA. Wow, you would have gotten real far after it was reported stolen, lemme tell you. Freaking idiot. I wonder if they could drive a stick. That would have been funny....they hot wire it and look down and go, "Awe **** I can't drive a stick." Nice huh?

Ok I'm done, my awful rant for the day. Thanks :)

I work for an auto insurance company (I'll keep the name to myself) and I can tell you that this happens all the time. I'm not just talking 2-3-4 claims a day for this type of stuff we are talking hundreds. You should, seriously, be glad you don't live in PG County. They wouldn't have left your car and it wouldn't have mattered what the license plate was because it would have been in a chop shop pretty quick...

Sorry it happened though, because you feel VERY violated when this happens. I left my car unlocked and someone took my nice winter coat and about 50-60 CD's(which are NOT covered under an auto insurance policy)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say your car is Red?

No, it's Blurpler (Blue-Purple) The Lasagna thing is cause it rhymes with my last name, so I've been "Laurie Lasagna" my entire life. And yeah I've had the tags for like ever.

I left my windows open once for a couple hours, and when I went to go out that night (maybe around 9:30) my Zune, radar detector, ashtray and the volume knob to my radio were all gone. And you know, the volume knob and ashtray pissed me off the most, because that's just not necessary. I mean, I can see why you'd take the Zune and radar detector. But the volume knob? The ashtray? So when I get in my car to discover the Zune and detector gone, I can't even put on loud music or smoke a cigarette? That's just wrong.

I used to own a 95 Olds that was, for lack of a better term, a &*%@-magnet for vandals and inept thieves. It got its tires slashed on two separate occasions, its plates swiped, was broken into and unsuccessfully stolen in much the same way that CamdenChick described in her OP, and was once egged while I was on vacation (egg white, left to bake for a week on your car's hood, eats through paint like nobody's bidness). It was the most innocuous looking car in the world, but for some reason bad people couldn't resist the urge to do bad things to it. It was eventually totaled by a hit-and-run driver in a parking lot, for which I was actually a little relieved.

CamdenChick, could you give me a rough idea where in Edgewood you live? I want to make sure my mom puts her car in the garage tonight.

Well, here I come with a happy story to ruin this rant:
First spring in our house. We have this miserable-looking forsythia between us and our neighbor. I'm trimming it with power hedge clippers. At some point, I apparently decide that I really no longer want the tip of the first finger on my left hand, because into the clippers it goes. Literally feels no worse than being pinched, but all of a sudden, I'm in full Pete Townsend mode: blood everywhere, soaking through the gardening glove, running down my arm when I raise my hand. I put the clippers down, walk to the house, open the door and say "El, I just cut myself". She says "don't come in the house", comes down, gives me some paper towells filled with ice for the finger, and we're off to the hospital. She leaves her purse on the porch.

Five hours later (Saturdays are busy at the Arlington Hospital emergency room!) we return home. On our porch, we find the clippers, the cord (neatly wrapped) and her purse. Nobody had even gone through it.

Of course, the next year, my neighbor forgot to lock his door, and some knucklehead walked in and stole his DVD player, so there you go!

My mom's car was broken into in DC many years ago. The thieves took a set of Amos & Andy comedy cassette tapes and a batting glove. No, not a pair of batting gloves. One glove. It belonged to my brother, which meant that at the time, it was properly sized for a 7-year-old child. They left its mate on the seat next to it. They also left behind a Gameboy and a Discman that were sitting nearby.

Total value of the stuff taken was probably $28. Nothing in the car got broken. My parents bought my brother another pair of batting gloves and that was the end of it.

I feel for you, though, CC, being robbed is an incredibly violating feeling no matter what was taken.

....Having to drive a Honda Accord isn't much of comfort either lol.... it's just hard for me to drive an automatic since I've always driven a stick

I have no clue how to drive a stick and I'm proud of it!

But can you tell me where to find some of those Amos & Andy batting gloves?

Oh! another thought. My cavalier(old car) got broken into in the city a couple years ago and they took nothing. Bashed the window and that was it. Point being what exactly??? Go figure, they take nothing in the city....then they try to steal my car at home. I really wanna sit outside with a ball bat tonight. I'd make Big Papi look like a chump. The worst part is, I'm going to NYC tomorrow, and I'm one of the drivers (I do it all the time so yeah....) and I can't even drive my own car :( (sigh)

I have that problem whenever I have to drive my mom's car. She has an Accord (automatic), and I swear that brake pedal is so huge and inviting for my left foot to mistake for the clutch. It's always fun slamming on the brakes when you're expecting to shift. It's even more fun with other people in the car.

So sorry to hear about your car's misfortune, CC. I've had my car broken into twice and it's no fun. One time was in Vancouver, BC while I was driving across the continent and had basically all my worldly goods in the trunk which all got stolen. Normally I'm not all about vengeance but I really hope they catch the son of a [pink hat wearing Sox fan] who did this and throw the book at him/her.

Wow.. I just want you guys to know something. As much as this pains me to say, I live on the eastern shore. The only thing we have to worry about are Raccoon's breaking into your trash bags. And going to see the O's is a mini road trip. :D

Um, not so much with raccoons here, it's more like squirrels. Come on it's Edgewood... the squirrels are packin' too. The rabbits are dealing under the sheds too I'm betting........
