So I go to Panera for my lunch break today (stupid me didn't realize it was the same casheir from the previous time this incident occurred) place my order, the cashier asks if it's for here or to go, I tell her that it is for here and then proceed to stand there for a minute and just stare at the cashier because she hasn't told me the total. She then realizes I havn't paid her yet so she takes her hand and points and taps at the little screen indicating the total! WTF how rude and lazy are you that you can't tell me the total! Yes I know the total is there on the screen, but I just think that it's common courtesy for a cashier to tell you the total as well. This has happened to me a few times at other places, but since this lady is a repeat offender I won't be returning to this Panera any more!

Did she point because she was on her cell phone? That's my favorite. The guy at my beer store does this. I'm always creating an inconvenience for him by making a transaction.

No, if it was some Negative Rep would've been coming her way!:D

It's the Panera in Silver Spring.

And no she wasn't on her cell phone she's just lazy or stupid or both!

Seriously though if she doesn't want to speak then maybe she shouldn't have a picked a job that involves interaction with other people!!!

If you stop going to places every time someone is rude or just not friendly, you'll run out of places to go. Have a beer and relax.:)

Maybe the girl was just traumatized by having found someone's poopy Depends in the restroom on both occasions you came across her. From what I know about the inner workings of Panera (all of which I learned on the Hangout), that apparently happens somewhat frequently there.

Cindy...I'm all for the equal employment thing, but I seriously doubt a mute person would find gainful employment as a cashier.

Right. Like I said, I'm all for the equal employment thing. But as a cashier? A job that absolutely requires interaction and quick and easy communication? Not so much.

Y'all go back and re-read ATBC's post again. Here -- lemme make it easy for you.

So I go to Panera for my lunch break today (stupid me didn't realize it was the same casheir from the previous time this incident occurred) place my order, the cashier asks if it's for here or to go

I'm gonna go with "not a mute" based on that testimony. AND, that this has been a recurring problem (I'm assuming since he's had this cashier before, ATBC would have surmised by this point whether said cashier was mute or not).

So, there ya' go. Not mute. Just a lazy rude person. Carry on.

I'm gonna go with "not a mute" based on that testimony. ROFTLO. You should have been on the O.J. jury.

Vinny Gambini: All right, this is 50 feet, that's half the distance. [Holds up 2 fingers on his right hand] How many fingers am I holding up?
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Let the record show that the counselor is holding up two fingers.
Vinny Gambini: [Annoyed] Your honor please, huh?
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Oh, sorry.
Vinny Gambini: Now. Mrs. Riley, and only Mrs. Riley. How many fingers am I holding up now?

Witchy

Witchy is correct. She is not a mute. She is just lazy and rude, and she's not even some silly teenager she's an adult (although you couldn't tell based on her verbal communication skills), I didn't realize it was the same bozo from before until she started doing that damn finger pointing/tapping of the monitor, but as I said before I won't be making that mistake again!!

Nope, wasn't me! I'm way too nice, and such a GREAT cashier I'd never do something like that. Ok now I sound cocky, but seriously, I'd be embaressed to say I acted that way towards a customer. That and I'm sure whichever cashier was standing next to me would have waffled me upside my head.

ANYWAY, I'm conspiring with our dissapointed cold beer drinking friend, and I'll rectify his situation, even though it wasn't at my Panera. (Because we're awesome like that) lol :)

And besides that I can't even remember the last time I cash'ed. Hmmm now I gotta go do that thinking thing.....

Not to mention that she'd already asked him if it was for here or to go. Unless, of course, she'd gone mute in the moments between...

Hah! That's what I get for leaping ahead.

Ok, so I told my boss about this whole scenario today, and his words where, "You know what to tell your friend to do." (cracks knucks) it's on like donkey kong, as soon as Cold Beer Man is ready. *Evil Grin* That's what happens when you 1. piss off someone I "know" and 2. Give us good Panera head's a bad rep.

You guys remember the Simpsons episode where Homer is at some sort of financial office getting advice. He then proceeds to write on a card and hand to the guy saying he is a deaf mute. After the worker explains that he is not a mute b/c he was just talking to him Homer proceeds to grab a stack of business cards throw them at the guy and run off!!
