ATM not ATM Machine

I was watching some Patriots highlights tonight, and after the game they were wearing shirts that said "AFC Conference Champions". American Football Conference Conference Champions?? Huh?

People always say ATM Machine, it's not Automated Teller Machine Machine...
PIN is just PIN..Not PIN number. Personal Identification Number Number. It annoys me.

We do this all the time at work. We have scanning electron microscope (SEM), and we had this guy come do some work on it who kept calling it the SEM Microscope. So now we find as many acronyms to use that with as possible.
