A lot of ****'s have played major league baseball.
Some of the more memorable names include:
**** Cox
**** Crutcher
**** Culler
Emerson ****man
Johnny ****shot
**** Hoover
**** Howser
**** Hyde
**** Johnston
**** Jones
**** Lane
**** Padden
****ey Pearce
**** Pole
**** Ricketts
**** Sharon
**** Starr

Fine, I'll never mention them again, but I think it's absolutely stupid that I can't type the name of Mike Bod****er on an Orioles message board.
Rant over.

This is all Rollie Fingers' fault. But... whatever can we call people who use the names of so many great baseball players in vain on a message board? :p
Seriously mods I really think it's time to let that one go. Just let people know that they'll get a vacation if they call anyone "richard" when it isn't their name. Or at least figure out a way to program the computer so that Bor**** and Bod****er are allowed as exceptions.

What seems odd to me is that the system catches some workarounds but not others. For example, the "!" looks kinda like an "i", and it works swell for saying b!tch... but not for saying ***** Cheney. So b!tch is worth banning, but not worth preventing the "!" workaround. Meanwhile, a lower-case "L" also looks like an "i", and I can say Dlck Cheney (not that I really want to). So, somebody somewhere has gone to some trouble... but inconsistently. Meanwhile, the software appears to let you asterisk anything. Which seems like some pretty lame sh*t to me.
If you're going to the trouble to prevent workarounds like the "!", wouldn't you wanna make sure you can't get away with substituting a "v" for the "u" that follows "F" in the archetypal 4-letter word? But you can.
What's especially surprising is that the 10-letter name that you famously cannot call an umpire, you can use here just fine. Seem odd that you can't refer to the standard impolite name for a turd, but you can use the standard impolite name for someone who performs fellatio. If there's some kind of value system at work here, I can't figure out what it is.

Wow! You can be such a Dlck, sometimes! But I like it! Turd is ok? Wow!

You guys have some great points. I mean, Tony, Scott, Paul, John, myself, and the mods - we all have tons of free time on our hands to worry about the swear filter. I humbly apologize for the massive inconvenience.
Maybe if you guys read the rules, and stopped calling each other ****s and ****heads, we could all be mature enough to not have 'inconsistently go through the trouble' of policing you.
And to everyone above, I suggest you re-read what you wrote, and then re-read the board rules regarding profanity.
