With tonight's win against the powerful Flyers, the Caps have moved one point ahead of Carolina for the top spot in the Southeast division. Friday's game against Carolina is a big one, as it will either cement the Caps' lead in the division or drop them back into second. Tonight, Ovechkin scored yet another goal to extend his lead in his personal quest for the Richard trophy.

I'll be there cheering on the Caps. This might be the biggest game of the season. Anyone else going?

I'll be there with like 4-5 other people. Hey, maybe we all should meet up! I'll be wearing my Ovechkin russian jersey w/ my O's hat! :)

It's great to see the Caps getting some pub out of this. Hopefully they keep it up and make a serious run. Melrose says Boudreau should be a candidate for coach of the year, and there's a story on the front page of ESPN.com about the Caps.
No doubt about it, the Caps continued success with Ovechkin carrying the team, is GREAT for the NHL.

I will definitely second that. I think HD makes it easier for people who have problems following the puck to see what's going on.

This is my only concern. Ovechkin is a beast no doubts about that, but I mean if he has an off night sometimes it seems like the team has trouble producing. I'd like to see Semin crank it up a notch or too and I'm hoping that Chris Clark can return sometime soon! Nothing but good can come from getting your captain back.

Don't forget about my boy Backstrom!!!
The have a great young team. I know Ovie does a lot of the scoring, but they do have a talented bunch!

Backstrom is having an awesome Rookie Season. Between him, Semin, the Big O and Greene, that's a very talented young nucleus to build around for years. Maybe the Orioles can do this as well.
What do you guys think about the goalie situation. Yes Kolzig is the starter, but since Johnson has gotten healthy it appears he's been putting up better numbers. Possible goalie controversy brewing??

Basically the Caps have 1.5 scoring lines. AO/Backstrom have been together since late November, which is when AO started his huge goal scoring tear (35 goals in 34 games). Now that Eric Fehr has been added to that line, we should see Kozlov and Semin starting to heat up on the 2nd line. The rest of the team consists of role players...who IMO actually win us more games than AO does.
This team needs a better goalie since Kolzig can't post a SV Pct above 90%. That might not happen until next year when we get Varlamov from Russia to come over.

Well, it seems that the Caps' prospects have finally started to blossom in the wake of AO living up and surpassing any potential he accrued prior to being drafted. I think that this is a great starting point for the Caps. I'm hoping this draws the free agents.

I was at the game last night and man... where to start. It wasn't that good. We played awful in the first 2 pds. and took forever to get going in the 3rd. That's just the start.
Oh, and also, about 2-3K people (including me) shouted the 'O!' in the National Anthem!

Yeah. We really got outplayed, but we scored when we needed to. Mike Green comes up huge again. He's untouchable in overtime.

I'll take a win any day. Even if it's against the Red Wings or any other team. But, we gotta keep going, we can't slip at all. :002_stongue:
