Did anyone catch the NBA Slam Dunk Contest?

Dwight Howards first two rounds were out of this world. Im glad Im home tonight and realized this was on. I caught the Rookie Challenge last night. I haven't watched an All Star Weekend in about 5 years, what a great time to start watching again!

Dwight Howard is the man.

Well his dunk in the final round was even better than the first two. I will post clips of them whenever I find them, but these were just sick.

All I have to say is WOW.

Dwight Howard has single-handledly brought this contest back to where it used to be....because for a few years the Slam Dunk contest was a yawner.

The 3rd dunk was freakin ridiculous, and his first might have been just as equally crazy. For a 7-footer to dunk like this is just amazing.

I've seen quite a few dunk contests, but I think tapping the ball against the glass and then dunking it on his 3rd dunk was maybe in the Top 5 all-time...that is extremely hard dunk to do. Vince Carter's dunk in 2000 would have to be up there as well...

Just a fun event to watch, glad I saw it.

At first glance, Howard's Superman dunk was unreal. But after watching the replay, Im not sure you could call it a dunk. He threw the ball at the cylinder more than dunking the ball, and the arc of his arm was like a foot short of the rim. Kenny Smith tried to say something about how he was so high he had to throw the ball through, but I think Howard got lucky his aim was good.

The dunk I thought was the best was Gerald Green catching a ball thrown to him, blowing out a candle on a cupcake that was resting on the back of the rim, and still dunking the ball.

Agreed, that was the best. To throw the ball, then catch off the bounce with the left hand, and throw it off the backboard to the right hand for the dunk... you have to be kidding me...

I think that was probably the most creative of dunks the whole night. But in terms of difficulty mixed with creativeness, Dwight Howard by far had both going on.

I couldn't tell what he did at first during his 3rd dunk, but after watching the replay I was amazed at that dunk, it wasn't real flashy, but it was creative and just flat out amazing. I wish I could do it. :D

At first I don't think anyone realized how tricky Green's cupcake dunk was until the replay. Sort of like Vince Carter dunking his whole arm through the rim a few years back. It wasn't until you watched it in slow motion that you really understand how crazy it was.

That was one of the best dunk contests I've seen in a long time.

I think it's safe to say the competition is officially back. Just last night before the contest I was telling my friend how they are almost running out of new stuff to do. Boy was I wrong.

I just want to know what Howard was doing the first time he realized he could dunk the ball with his head behind the backboard. How do you even come up with that?

Yeah, that was an awesome competition. Much better than last year.

I really think the gem dunk of the entire contest was not howard but was Gerald Green blowing out the candle. Sure it doesn't look amazing when you first see it full speed, but when you see the slowmo board cam that dunk is amazing.

High skill content, extremely original, and performed perfectly.
