Baltimore County Public Schools - Closed.
Loyola College - Closed.
Goucher - Closed
Towson University. Opens at 10.
This happens every single time. And TU is primarily a commuter school. It has to be a blizzard for them to close. They always think they can clean up adequately and always take the stupid risk.
AND IT'S A FRIDAY. The traditional light class day in the first place.
(I'm also bitter because I had to wake up early for an early event, got showered up and wide awake and then they made the call...which was the wrong one)
I think everything is closed in the Northeast today.
Except my office of course.

That really does suck.
When I was in highschool, I used to go by the Baltimore County rules since I went to private school in Baltimore County.
I used to get so worked up over that damn Herford Zone. I don't know what to tell you.
There would be times where I would read that we were ON TIME and they would be CLOSED!!!
And I know it was bad up there, but I would get so upset when I saw the words Baltimore County... Herford Zone. Really took the wind out of my sails.
Sorry to stomp on your rant! I hope they end up closing today for you, there is still time!

I'm in Frederick and the roads are just wet. What exactly are you complaining about? Why should they close? Because eveyone else jumped the gun and closed early? :002_stongue:
(Maybe I'm a little bitter. My company has closed 2x in 20 years for the weather. A bad snow day means I have to burn a vacation day.)

Secondary rant.
Living so far away and working in events...this necessitates being there an hour early when an event is going on for late openings, in order to set the event. I live far enough away that I normally allow 45 minutes just for rush hour, so I left an hour just for the possibilities of accident traffic.
The time between my first post and this post would roughly be the round trip time, as I got all the way up there to get the message that they decided to go ahead and close up for the day. Whooooops. I'm snake bit. :D

My work is closed. But I'm essential staff and have to come in anyways. Add on top of that is the great fact that we're testing new software today and its not working, so I'm gonna sit here and stare at a blank computer screen for 8 hours pissing away a free day off. And sicne we're closed the cafeteria isn't open, so I can't even get lunch. Grumble.
I hate snow and ice now more than ever. It doesn't matter how bad it is out there, the Post Office will be open and there will be mail to be delivered. Luckily, I didn't get called in today so I'm happy.

Yeah, I feel you a bit there. Had there been an athletics event today, 99.9% of the time they go on regardless of school closures (both teams and officials in the area, NCAA regs say the game/match/meet/etc gets played), and I'd become essential personnel in that event. It's happened many times. Feel your pain, buddy.

Yeah, it's even in the credo, or slogan, or whatever.

Quit complaining and go to work. When did we become total pansies? Scrape your windows and go. In, um, three hours and some, that's what I'll be doing.

I did go to work, albeit complaining. They closed on me.

Ha, I just heard my roommate grumbling about going to College Park to go to work, and how they're just going to close school early.

My commute from Howard County to Fairfax was delightful this morning. With all the closings, the roads were almost empty.

Personally, I think next time they decide to open Towson when
1) Everyone else is closed and
2) They neglect the minor details like removing the ice and/or salting all of the paths that lead onto campus from the lots, garages and campus-owned apartments
me and Wedge should go flood the area around the President's house and/or the administration building.
Bet that issue never comes up again...

So I just got back from the gym. The roads are wet. But they aren't frozen. I scraped some ice off my car and got a move on. In an hour I'll be going to work. I don't see what the big deal is.

I didn't even know colleges got snow days. Our's doesn't unless maybe it's a citywide state of emergency. Also, it's just cloudy outside here in Philly. I was hoping for a huge ice storm, but alas, no luck.
