When Ben Davis is your DH and you've got guys like Redman/Quiroz/Fahey filling out the order, you know you have a crummy line-up.

It's always nice to hear the different stations that cover baseball. I always picture Joe Angel sitting back having a nice drink and very relaxed while he's announcing.

These guys sound like the stereotypical Californian style radioshow that is kinda like H. Stern.

they didn't say that. they said moore is blocked by mora and that as a young team Moore needs to prove that he can pick up where Mora declines. Thats what I heard anyway

Interesting, I'll have to play it back again after the game is over. I could swear that he said that, the only thing I though maybe I heard wrong was maybe they were saying best 3rd baseman on the team. you're listening to the Dodgers announcers right?

Who is pitching for the O's? How is B/S ratio. Are the hits hard hits?

How did moore get on base?

I am being completely serious. A team has to have at least four regulars for an away game in ST.

The Mets got in trouble the other day (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2008/news/story?id=3268713), because they only sent Ryan Church.

It's about time MLB started looking to enforce the "four regulars" rule after teams have gotten awfully lax about it the last few years. Fining the Mets in this case isn't absolutely necessary, but if MLB lets it know that the fines will come in the future, teams will begin to toe the line.

Interesting. I wonder how "regular" is defined. If it is anyone who would be on the 25 man, or were, then I would say Quiroz, Burres, Jones, Markakis, and Redman count. If you can't count pitchers then take out Burres. If you can't count backups then I think its a pretty unfair rule for a team that is rebuilding the O's

And the definition of "representative" was a "minimum" of four players who were regulars the previous year or had a "reasonable chance" of being regulars this season.

So that would rule out Quiroz, not sure about Redman.

It is also in reference to the line-up, not the pitching staff.

The Orioles have Markakis, Jones, Scott, Roberts, Mora, Millar, Huff, Hernandez, and Payton who could all fit the bill really though.

I don't know that Quiroz is ruled out. The rule is still unclear on "regular" as to whether it can be a backup or whether it must be a starter. Quiroz has a "reasonable chance" to become a regular this year.

Could be argued that with the fluidity of trades and such, and many will shriek at this, but with a Roberts trade both Torres and Fahey have a "reaonable chance" to be regular 2B's this year.

I agree there is a lot of stretching but I have to think the rule is enforced subjectively, and as such you can't possibly target a team with as much roster fluidity as the Orioles right now.

Gotta feel bad for Yan though.

The Orioles are probably his last chance for a baseball job and he's not making a good impression.

Do they go to extra innings in spring training or does the game just end?

Guess the game is over.

LaRoche strikes out swinging.

Game over. 4-4 tie.

Big strikeout for Mickolio, LaRoche is a really good hitter. Not a bad inning for not getting any appearances. It sounds like he didn't get too rattled with runners in scoring position. I'm really liking the return on the Bedard trade.
