Luke Scott strikes out on three pitches. Two fouled off, one swinging.

Fahey handles the ball and, even with the walk, you might have a three up three down inning (I know, you can't assume the double play on Cuddyer's GB).

But this is his last chance with the Orioles. I can't see what the harm would be, in a rebuilding year, to get a look at him in the role. I'd hate to see him go elsewhere and become a dominant reliever when this club didn't even try him there. Hopefully he pitches well as a starter and the issue never comes up.

I wouldn't call Bynum a "bat". He's there because of his versatility.
True, but we are also stuck with other lefties like Gibbons and Huff, so I'd still just as soon see Redman go. Bynum can play both MI spots and in the OF; Roberson can play plus defense anywhere in the OF. Quiroz is set as the B/U catcher. If I'm keeping a left handed bat (in addition to those listed above), I'd opt for Scott Moore over Tike Redman. Moore can readily handle 3B and 1B and is working in LF and at 2B, as well. I'd think his bat is at least as good as Redman and probably better.

So you abbreviate already short words like "with," "will," and "right"-- in most cases, saving yourself only one or two characters each-- but have no problem writing out long words like "abbreviations." And you use incorrect abbreviations to boot! :p

Olehippi, do we have to be in midseason form to pitch two lousy innings?
Look at the bullpen and we have a lot of guys like that: Sarfate, McGrory, Sherrill, Hoey, Bradford and Walker...all of these guys are considered situational or closer/setup types who only pitch one frame. We had too much of that last year, and maybe that's one reason the bullpen was so bad. A starter goes out early and you need to pitch the whole staff to get thru 9 innings forcryinoutloud! A couple of bad games in a row and you have a situation with a lot guys coming in 2 and 3 days in a row and it's a disaster.

And we also have potential multi-inning players in Burress, Leicester, Johnson, Novoa. If we lose this game 30-3 and we use 27 pitchers to each get one out, it means nothing other than that's how Trembley wanted to use people today.

Leicester and Burress are cannon fodder , JJohnson hasn't pitched more than a couple innings at the ML level and hasn't been that great when in the minors, and Novoa is mediocre at best. If you start using them you'll have 30-3 games every 3 or 4 nites. You need at least a couple of guys who can go out there and eat up 2 or 3 innings apiece and get outs, not a bunch of one-inning "specialists" who fols up like an accordian when they go over 15 pitches or so.
