Does anyone know why none of the recent Orioles games have been on gameday audio? It seems like we're one of teh only teams who doesn't get near complete coverage on a daily basis. The last 3 or 4 games haven't been on there. I kind of regret paying the 15 bucks, granted I know I get regular season games as well, but I will watch those on MASN.

The game is not being carried by either the Orioles or the opponents radio network, so there is no feed for MLB to pick up and stream. Our last two games have been against the Twins and Cards and I guess that their rights carrier, like CBS radio here, don't want to interrupt their regular broadcasts for practice games.

Double ouch, as long as he's feeling Ok and not hiding any pain from the coaches I'm fine with him struggling a bit. It's understandable that he'll have a lot of rust.

It's pretty impressive that he walked 4, gave up 2 hits including a HR, and only gave up 3 runs.

Millar must have gotten a hit because Mora came home. 3-1 Cards
You've gotta let him pitch a 3-4 four innings no matter what the outcome, he needs his work.

Loewen gives up two singles and another walk in the 2nd inning and gets 2 men out and is finished for the day.
1.2 innings, 4 hits, 4 ER, 4 BB, 1 K, 1 HR

1.2 innings, 4 hits, 4 ER, 4 BB, 1 K, 1 HR MLB Boxscore shows 5-2 now but not who the run is charged to.
2 HBP for Loewen too.
Not a good sign that his control is that bad.

Not a good sign that his control is that bad. Yeah I agree the only good thing is if he threw without any additional shoulder pain.

I love how 3+2=4 in the world of MLB.com boxscores. Pretty sure it's 4-1 and that 2 is an error.

Yahoo is always faster and more relaible the MLB.com, you just don't have a box score to try and emulate a play-by-play.

Is this the year that Loewen has to be in the big league's due to his contract he signed after we drafted him?

Yep, that was last year.
Though at this rate, Loewen may start the year on the DL. Maybe we will see Penn earlier then expected.

I can't believe how dissapointing Loewen has been this spring. The trouble is that he shouldn't even be in the majors. He should be down at the minor league camp with Penn, who looks better; Liz, who looks better; and Olson, who looks better. All of those three players have had better minor league stats and don't even get a chance to pitch in the bigs because Loewen's contract situation!
I don't care about injuries or not. Penn is coming off an injury and has played well. And don't try to tell me that 'it's only spring training.' Teams that stink i.e. the O's, should have something to prove in spring ball. They should locate their pitches, get outs, and try to win roster spots. Teams who don't have much to prove, i.e. the Saux and Yanks don't really have to try as hard during the spring as the O's.
It amazes me how everyone on this board has automatically written off Trax and Guthrie and rant about how they will be out of the rotation by June 1st. Ridiculous!! What's even more amazing is that there are more than a handful of posters on this board who think that Loewen is a front of the rotation pitcher, and even more disturbing is the fact that there are several posters who claim he's a future ace!? If anyone should get knocked out of the rotation it's Loewen. He's a lesser version of Cabrera except that he can't stay healthy. I mean Cabrera has a better heater, and arguably a better curve and doesn't miss start.
Is it possible for Loewen to be moved to the minors for a while and replace him with a more deserving pitcher? Is Loewen in the majors for good? Can he never be assigned to the minors?
Either way, he's a bona fide bust to this point, and there are at least 10 players taken after him in the 1st round of the 2002 draft that have been significantly better than him. I consider him as one of the many reasons why the O's stink so bad. High 1st round picks are players that teams build upon, like Markakis, but Loewen has been a very sandy foundation.

No, he is out of options. But after today's performance I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on the DL.

I think this ST is a vision of things to come. The next several years are going to be brutal at times. The problem will be that too many people won't/don't understand what "rebuilding" means, and they will do nothing but complain about how lousy the O's are and start screaming for people's heads.

You are probably right but I would expect that faction to be in the minority. People on this board who follow the Orioles closely know what needs to be done and the kind of hurt that lies ahead. Realistically we are several good drafts away from turning things around and that is assuming our present development program is turning out the players we hope will be future leaders on a regular schedule. Realistically if we can develop 2-3 good pitchers each year and add one or two promising positional players each season over the next 2-3 years then I would expect by 2111 we all might have something to really shout about:)
