Did you guys know there's a flight simulator in Google Earth?

Launch the program and press Ctrl - Alt - A. You can choose between two planes and take off from airports around the world.

The controls are pretty tough to figure out -- I've been going down in flames all afternoon in a variety of exotic locales. Here's a cheat sheet for the controls if you give it a whirl: Google Earth Flight Sim (http://earth.google.com/intl/en/userguide/v4/flightsim/index.html)

Happy Flying!

Will it freeze my CPU? Every time I try to run the Google Space program it runs like a Commadore 64.

Didn't freeze mine, and my system isn't anything to write home about. And the Flight Sim doesn't have all the bells and whistles of others you'd go out and actually buy, so I don't think it'll be using up too many system resources.

On the other hand, if Google Space gives you trouble....

It's pretty cool, but hard as heck to control.

There was this one F-16 game my brother had that had over 50 pages of different commands....!

I'm getting better....I've figured out how to keep it straight while climbing/diving....etc...

Well, share the wealth, Crazy!! My longest flight has been about two minutes, and it was left, right, left, up, down, up, down the whole time.

Shift while turning is major......also tapping and not holding down the arrows is pretty key as well. Start on the SR-22.....the F-16 is harder and more responsive...

Wow, now I see there's a flight simulator banner in the middle of this thread.

Coincidence, or brilliant marketing? Or computers watching our every move?

Yes, hit Shift while turning or else you're just doing constant barrel rolls.

It's possible to do it the other way, but you need a really good touch. Tilt on way then pull up to turn around.

Do you need to have google earth downloaded for this to work?

Yes, and I think it has to be version 4.2 or higher.
