First off let me say I love the new multi-quote buttons long time. Thank you.
The picture thread made me think of something that might make life a little easier...
You need quotes around the url I believe. Just hit the quote button on someones post that's done it successfully and you can copy their code, that's the quickest way. Then you can just back out of the quote command assuming you don't want to quote that person. Just replace the url and leave everything else.
I think the code is <img src=""> so why not just take that and make a "Wrap image tags around selected url" button the same way there's a Wrap [QUOTE] tags around selected text button?
Good idea? Bad idea? Average idea?

Sure, that's a good idea. It gets too complicated though because images are only really allowed in the Orioles Talk forum, so then we have to put in conditionals, etc....

Well then maybe you should CHANGE that...:p

Hey, I like the Oriole bird Super pips. Is that allowed? When did you swing that change? Good job either way!

I think the last explanation basically had to do with clutter and such. Allow them everywhere, and you'll get too many of the goofy pictures that can really muck up a forum. I think they're only allowed up there so as to allow stuff like Moose's pictures.

I'm not sure, as I didn't set it up, but this is why I imagine it's so. It's an Orioles site, so sure, Orioles pictures are appropriate in that forum. Imagine all of the zaniness that would ensue if we allowed images in Rants, Hangout Club, etc.
Me personally, I've seen all of the 'hilarious' "pwned" and "in before the lock" images five times already, so I don't mind missing out on them.

I'm kind of with you there. Used judiciously, they're hilarious. But we're hardly a moderate culture. Nothing in moderation, and if you let it go unfettered, those pictures would be all over the place. Instead of a real reply, people would just post snarky pictures.

Sure, they can be fun. But from a personal standpoint, I do a lot of message boarding, and it's nice to come to a place where the opinions are the focus.

CrimsonTribe found a drawing of a real oriole bird on the web, so we went with that. It's not an actual MLB logo - it's just a bird.

I agree that too many pics can get ridiculous, but you gotta admit that the "in before the lock" is hilarious! Cracks me up every time!

I asked about this before. It boils down to the following:
It works on the baseball side, but not on the other side.
Nobody is quite sure how or why it got set up that way to begin with, but it did.
Tony decided there's nothing wrong with it, so we should just leave it alone.
So, what used to be a mystery is now a policy, on the grounds that "If it's not broken, don't fix it".
Details here (http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54427), but that's what it boils down to.

Sure, I can appreciate that some find things like this funny, but me personally I've seen it all 5 times already.
We allow it in the MLB forum, and people don't abuse it (the above posts are fine, I'm just busting chops), so I think it's good to leave it at that for now.

Ghetto MS Paint > Professionally done photoshop. My point from the original thread still stands though.

I can understand why you want to limit it to certain forums (I disagree but that is certainly your call). I don't understand why you would be against having an easy picture tag button.
A) I don't believe that such a button would lead to more people breaking the rules.
B) The rules are well known about picture usage and if they're broken we can let the offender know. The beauty of the OH is we're somewhat of a self-moderating community.

No sir you did not. However I only saw the negative side of pics talked about, and nothing has been done to date, and I assumed it would be a very easy to do, so based on those assumptions I made another assumption, that the staff was against and it wasn't happening.
The old platitude rings true, when you make assumptions you make an ass out of u and mptions. Although mptions is a jerk anyway so I don't mind making an ass out of him.

I'm not against anything that would make people happy. It's just that it's not as easy at is sounds. We get the board software from a vendor, and I'd like to upgrade more frequently going forward. The problem then becomes breaking the upgrade path - the more I change, the more I have to retrofit when we upgrade. I'd like to stay as close to the baseline as possible.
I'll look into it though when time permits...
