Anyone remember rushing home from Elementary School to catch those shows at 3:30 or 4:00?
Mine was relatively obscure. I never missed an episode of an old Japanese cartoon called "Star Blazers"

Does anybody remember Today's Special? Hardly any of my friends do.
That was my favorite program growing up.

I remember Today's Special. I remember most of the Nickelodeon stuff. I remember Pinwheel more than I do Sesame Street, as a matter of fact.

DBZ, natch.
In elementary school both Pokemon and Sonic were on before I got home, so my mom recorded both of them (Sonic in like 1st-3rd grade, Pokemon in 5th).

Ditto. I never got into Sesame Street, but I always watched Pinwheel, Today's Special, and the rest of the Nickelodeon daytime lineup.

Even if, at my young age, I totally pegged Plus and Minus as Bert and Ernie rip offs, I somehow got more enjoyment out of Pinwheel.

Heck, I'd spend my after school time watching the shows from 4-6 (Family Ties, Who's the Boss, Mr. Belvedere, etc...) If I had only done my homework during that time...

Anyone remember a show called "Legends of the Hidden Temple"? I think it was on Nickelodeon. It was basically a game/competition show for kids. They'd compete in a bunch of challenges, and at the end of the show, one contestant would get to run through the "Hidden Temple," which was a giant maze-like mansion with obstacles and stuff.

Yeah! That show was great. I still remember the names of most of the villains. Vic the Slick...Contessa...Patty Larceny...Top Grunge...
And of course, the always entertaining musical stylings of Rockapella.

Definite rep points for you.
For some reason, I recall another cartoon that was similar to Star Blazers, where there was some alien force threatening earth. The show had a lot more small craft fights, but the character mix and plot was like SB. I have been wracking my brain trying to remember it.

I don't think so. I checked out some video of BotP on YouTube, didn't seem familiar.
The only thing I remember is the villains had some kind of huge floating city as their ship (like Star Blazers Comet Empire). The final battle was with that city hovering over the earth, with a huge battle going on with small fighters. I also remember one of the heroes (who was presumed dead) showing up with a fleet of fighters to save the day.

Speed Racer. I didn't run home to see it but I certainly tested the limits of my father's television trying to fix the lousy antenna-less reception.

When your world looks kinda weird
and you wish that you weren't there
Just close your eyes and make believe
and you can be anywhere
Muppet Babies
We make our dreams come true
Muppet Babies
We'll do the same for you
You know, sometimes I wonder what I could've done with the parts of my brain that are absolutely crammed with useless stuff like this.

Captain Tugg, which featured the good Captain trolling the Cheasapeake in his tugboat the "Channel Queen" while showing Popeye and Hercules cartoons. That was the first show I couldn't wait to watch after getting home. There was also a show on after it (or before - I forget) called Countdown Carnival with Bill Gormley as the host which featured Superman with George Reeves. I also was glued to the set after these shows watching the Three Stooges.
