I would be really happy to get a 'Ryan Zimmerman' type in the 4th slot.

The important thing to me is we have the 4th pick in what has been called a very good draft talent wise. If we can come close to matching our draft last year, I'll be very happy. Wieters and Arrieta alone look like future centerpieces to this team and I like Bascom as well. Oh, and this year we have a 2nd and 3rd round pick. I am really looking forward to what Jordan and McPhail will do this June.

Playing Devil's Advocate; Most draft years have very good talent available at the top of the draft, or at least it seemed so at that time.

I agree with you that we are in a good situation, and I also agree that we'll take an excellent prospect... I just thought by showcasing this info it would add a bit more to the discussion. :D

Can I get an 'Amen'?! :)

Dmintri Young played SS ... oh vay. Would Pedro Alvarez suffice as a Ryan Zimmerman type?

Not from a defensive persepctive from what I've read.

That was an interesting list. Looks like the odds are against us but I like our chances anyway of coming away with a solid ML player, hopefully an all-star.

I'd be pleased with any of Alvarez, Matusz, Beckham, Smoak, or Crow and since that's 5 players. And, since we pick 4th, I think I have an outside chance, at least, of being pleased.:002_scool:
