With all the fussing about LH, one thing I look for is where he is, even if he's not in the play. The other night when Mora made a great diving stop to his left, LH was backing him up and coulda got it if Mora didn't. A couple times on bloop singles to CF, LH is *way* out in CF, almost to where Blair used to play. He hasn't caught one out there, but I'm not used to seeing a SS get out that far...

He has a nasty slider, good curve, and can throw his change to righties. This is why he put Moore up and let Hernandez start the inning. If he was looking for power when Luis came up, he would have taken a shot with Jones.

It seemed to me that Payton just got a very bad read on the ball and thought it was clearly a hit off the bat so he was playing it like a normal single. I agree he could have caught it and it looked bad, but I think it was more a bad read than being lazy. My 2 cents....

Why pinch hit to start the inning with a slow runner? Not to mention that I think you all fail to realize how tough Felix is on right hand batters. He has a nasty slider, good curve, and can throw his change to righties. This is why he put Moore up and let Hernandez start the inning. If he was looking for power when Luis came up, he would have taken a shot with Jones.
Incidentally, Trembley couldn't have Ramon pinch-hit for Luis. Ramon had already come into the game in the #8 slot, replacing Quiroz at catcher.
