I had five closers, and one of our owners wanted another closer.

I had Soria, Rivera, Capps, Nathan, Francisco Cordero.

I traded:

Edgar Renteria, Francisco Cordero, and Roy Oswalt

for

Cole Hamels, Miguel Tejada, and Javier Vasquez

What do you think?

I'll still have Soria, Rivera, Capps and Natan.

My starters will be Johan, Hamels, Myers, Cain, Vasquez, Bannister, Maddux, and Saunders with Gallardo and Harden on the DL.

New Lineup will be:

C - Towles
1B - Pujols
2B - Kinsler
3B - Wright
SS - Tejada
OF - Wells
OF - Guerrero
OF - Sizemore
UT - Thomas
UT - J.D. Drew

BN - Bengie Molina, Jeremy Hermedia, Casey Kotchman

The reason I made the trade is that I'm a huge fan of Cole Hamels, Javier Vasquez isn't terrible, and Miguel Tejada should be an upgrade over Renteria. Not to mention the rocky start that Roy Oswalt got off to.

It's a steal for you. Javier will be solid this year, Hamels is a stud, Miggy is whatever as a throw in to that deal. Oswalt will end up having season ending surgery, just watch.

It's a good trade for you, especially considering you had 5 closers, but I think the people who have already posted are going a little overboard in their assessment.

I think the Cordero for Hamels part will help you a good deal, the other two parts of the trade are pretty even imo.

Yeah I don't think it's a lopsided as others have stated. Don't get me wrong I think it's a good deal for me, but it's not a homerun. Tejada has question marks surrounding him in regards to the on going FBI investigation regarding perjury. Vasquez is basically a strikeout pitcher who will mix in some good outings here and there. The main reason I made the trade is to get Cole Hamels. I really like Hamels, and think that he's a guy I could end up keeping after this season.

I feel over the past two years I've established some pretty nice keepers for myself.
