When Thome was safe at second he said he was glad it wasn't closer because he wouldn't want to have to go out and argue the call with the headset on in the middle of the interview.

What did Trembley do, for those of us without cable?
It is "Wired Wednesday". MASN was interviewing Trembley for most of the top of the 3rd inning.
On the double by Thome, Markakis fired it into second and Thome was safe. Trembley told Gary Thorne that he was glad he was safe and that it was obvious because he didn't know how he would go out there with the microphone on his head. Thorne, Martinez and Trembley were having some good laughs about that.
Then when Markakis slid to try to catch the hit by Konerko unsuccessfully, Markakis rebounded and fired into third to try to throw out Thome. Trembley bursted out "Throw him out" as Markakis did just that. He seems really really cool.

Trembley needs to get Roberts, Millar and Markakis together and do some serious work on foul pops down the RF line. All three of them consistently do a lousy job of going after them and communicating with each other, which is surprising considering that they're all for the most part fundamentally sound players.

Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuke on the beautiful OF assist after a base hit to left field by Pierzynski. Throw was right on the target to Ramon to nail Cabrera at the plate to end the inning.
Loewen's at 99 pitches for the game. Do you bring him out for the 6th? If Jim Johnson is available tonight, i'd bring him in. If not, I'd put Loewen out to start the 6th. Other than Thome, he has done reasonably well tonight at limiting the damage.
Quentin, Crede & Uribe are due up next inning for the Sox just as an FYI.
Obviously what the O's do in the bottom half of the inning has an impact too. If we edge closer, you may not want to push Loewen too much.

Yup. Scott's throw was absolutely perfect... so much so that it may have kind of forced him to but Ramon hung in there and actually took a decent hit after applying the tag.

Loewen induces a quick pop up in foul territory by Uribe to end the top half of the 6th. Gutsy performance by Loewen tonight after the 3-run dinger to Thome. Not the best control, but he stuck with it tonight and got important outs. Help from Markakis and Scott on the 2 OF assists were crucial.

I think that if he stays healthy, the second half of the year will be a very good one for him. I still have faith in Adam that he can reach his potential. People need to remember that this is only his 4th year in the system. If it weren't for his contract, he'd probably be rehabbing in the minors for the first couple months.

He seems pretty rattle-proof. I don't see why he can't get better. He's still young and still learning. Seems to be paying attention too. It's just weird that sometimes he has no idea where it's going. Missing by a few inches is one thing, but he was missing by a couple feet sometimes....

It's a mental thing for sure. I remember a few times when he'd get to 0-2 in the count and try to get the batter to chase but he'd miss by several feet. I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that he's basically rehabbing at the ML level.

Just the 7th. Loewen rebounded with a gutsy performance after surrendering a 3-run jack to Thome in the first. He struggled with his command throughout but was poised and had good defense behind him to get him through 6.

Ugh, it's frustrating. You read pre-game preview's and what have you and see how he's struggled last year and so far this year. Then you read how the O's owned him last year, but forget to take into account that we've had a lot of turnover. Still, you should be able to do a lot more than what we've done against a pitcher like Contreras. He just isn't that good.

Probably not, but it doesn't matter. I paid $8 yesterday and went into the LF lower box, showed the usher my tickets (LF uppers) and he put me in the 3rd row near the foul pole. It was pretty awesome, and he was really nice.

Of course he'll be fine. He doesn't go into prolonged slumps until the O's are at least 10 games out of first place. Personally I think his whole problem tonight is that he has gone and gotten his hair cut a little bit too short again. Fortunately his hair grows back fast though so he should be on fire again in a couple of days. :p

Loewen managed a QS in spite of missing some by 2 feet, Johnson looked great, and Bradford's GB's quit having eyes. Plus, there was a play at the plate where Ramon was actually in the right place. So, there's lots to feel good about.
Contreras just kept everybody off-balance with his 63 different speeds, that's all, and Loewen threw 1 fat one. It happens...
