I'd say of all the pitchers we currently have, he's most likely to be here. Only because he has a pretty decent ability to stay healthy and log some innings, which wouldn't be bad if he were just our worst starter.

Does Albers count as being "in the rotation" after one start that should have earned him the 5th spot? I'm starting to get an inkling that he could stick as our 4th or 5th starter for awhile.

I couldn't care less how bad they were if we weren't treated to a nice dish of Millar, Huff, Payton, Hernandez, Mora, etc. on a nightly basis. I understand that you can't rebuild over night, but the fact that there's almost no one besides Wieters who we can really expect to be here to help within the next couple of seasons makes watching this bunch a whole lot more bleak.

FWIW, Gameday marked Crede's home run pitch as being a curveball.
I will say that the movement on the Crede homer did look more like a curveball than a slider in that it was straight down. I didn't see the velocity on his. I'll go back and look again.
(pause while I rewind/replay)
No, I looked again. It wasn't a curveball. The speed was 83. Guthrie throws his curve in the 76-78 range. It was a slider, but not a very good one for sure.
Still, it is hard to imagine how two consecutive hitters tee off like that unless something else is going on. The first slider was about thigh high on the outside corner with decent movement and Quentin parked it like he knew it was coming. The second one was on the inside corner but was knee high or below.

Oh for crying out loud get a life! I made an off the cuff comment several days ago that Millar should have swung at a close pitch because CB Bucknor was behind the plate and had been doing a terrible job all night as he always does. You proceeded to obsess about it for the rest of the game and now are at it again. I never said the strikout was more Millar's fault than Bucknor's, but I maintain that players need to do what they can to deal with obvious bad umpiring. My opinion of that pitch was that it was close enough that Millar could have been able to foul it off. In this case, Roberts got burned in the first inning trying to chase a low and outside pitch in the exact same place where Marsh had called a strike earlier in the at-bat. If I were him, I would not have trusted Marsh on the strike three call, just as I wouldn't have on the one to Millar the other night. However, since he had been burned once earlier in the game when he did what I suggested and went after a truly unhittable pitch that was being ludicrously called a strike, I can understand how the second time around he might have tried a different tactic.

Where have I ever denied having strong opinions or favorite players? I respect everyone else's right to have opinions about players. I may argue their positions on something specific, but the only time I will post anything that even vaguely resembles a personal insult to another poster is when they have attacked me or another poster first in a way that I feel is unjustified. Certain posters have a tendency to take out their hostilities on fellow message board posters in a way that is completely unjustified. Bullying, even online, is one thing that I will not tolerate.

I agree with you. Most of the time it isn't intentional and, when I realize I'm doing it, I apologize. Sometimes I definitely get annoyed by what I consider overreaction or illogical posts and let it show in my posts. If you see me do it, please call me on it.
It is intentional right now with BB because she has portrayed herself as an even handed, moral authority on this board several different times recently and it just isn't so. She started this war several days ago. She can end it if she wants to do so.
Saying that Kevin Millar should have swung at a pitch started a war? Really? Whatever, I give up. Welcome to my Ignore List. Please reciprocate so that we can both show the rest of the board some respect by sparing them this pointless tedium.

I suppose, it just came off as an extremely canned answer to me. Not that I expect much more from athletes.
He's probably answered the same question at least a few dozen times in his career. You have to start recycling answers at some point.

Any chance Ramon pinch hits for Fahey? Do we have an emergency shortstop? Jones? I hate the thirteen pitcher roster.

Both of you stop it. There, that's even handed. :D
If you need to put each other on ignore, do it and spare the rest of us.

You're right. My apologies. I'm truly sorry for hijacking the thread.

If this game gets tied up there will be an interesting defensive alignment next inning. Jones at short and a pitcher in the outfield?

Millar to 3rd, Mora to SS, Hernandez to 1B?
If it gets to that.

Hopefully we can find out. Mora at short, Millar at third and Hernandez at first is probably the choice.
