Orioles Hangout Mock Draft??

I thought it might be fun to run a mock draft on the board, here. This is what I envision:

Whoever is interested will be assigned a number of teams. The goal will be for you to decide who your team, not you, would pick. So, if you are up at 7 and Hosmer is available, but your organization will not draft a Boras guy, you would likely not select Hosmer.

We could pick a day and then just play out the draft on a thread -- no time limits, get to the thread when you can to see when you are up, then post your pick with a brief explanation. It may take a couple of days to get through, but that should be part of the fun. Maybe we even break it up in three days, so there is more time to discuss the ten picks each day.

If you are interested, let me know on this thread and I'll start organizing it. Any number of people is fine; hopefully we get at least five.

This should be an interesting little exercise here. I'm excited as well.

Just wanted everyone to know that I work nights, from 6-6, and I have the Saturday night and Sunday night shifts this weekend. So I will make the first pick before I get off VERY early Monday morning.

I usually get up around 2 or 3, so if its sitting on my pick at 8, that's why.

I'll make it a point to get up around noon or so...

Or is this just an opinion piece where we pick who we think will go? Are we making picks with preparation to defend said pick with data and research? I just wanna know how much i need to be ready to fight if i make a reach :)

It should be your best guess at who will be taken, so I'd take into account all of the things you mention. I don't see it getting too heated, since most teams could easily draft 3 or 4 different players at their slot. Take it as serious as you'd like, but don't kill yourself. The teams themselves don't even know what their board looks like yet! :)

Sweet, sounds good. I looked up some stuff on PIT with all of this going out of slot talk and they have never drafted a Boras client, nor do they have any players on the roster that are Boras clients. I don't think you get much more avoidance than that. I don't know about KC, or TB though, haven't got that far.

I have a lot riding on my shoulders with that #4 pick. My final presentation for my Masters degree is on tuesday, but I'll be able to get that number 4 pick on monday. After, that I'm free to waste time looking over teams' draft needs all I please. That'll feel nice.

Good luck with that man. If it makes you feel better all you really have to do is wait for the first 3 picks to go and see what's left, it's not like we are an Orioles msg. board and going to be fast and furious no matter who you pick or anything ;)
