Episode write-up below (highlight to read):
There's No Place Like Home Pt. 1
The face-off between the survivors and the freighter people begins.
Another interesting name for the ep -- and yet another reference to the Wizard of Oz (Ben originally showed up as "Henry Gale" and his cover story involved his hot air balloon crashing on the island).
Just a reminder, too, that there is no LOST episode next week. We get the one-hour ep on 5/15, nothing on 5/22, and a two-hour finale on 5/29.

What do you think they'll do with the Henry Gale?

This should be fun. These endings are the reason we watch the show, right? I don't have any details, but boy am I trying. (I even sent my friend an ON TIME birthday card this year.) I do know they have a lot of bloodshed, deaths, reveals, Ben manning up, Sun manning up, and plot twists to get to, so hopefully they do not save it all for two weeks and we get to see some tonight. (I mean, it takes time to move an island right? You just can't push a button... right?) I am pretty sure we get to see the actual return home (that is't a spoiler, right?) tonight, as well as see certain new people get to the freighter. (The question is whether that is a good place to be.) I am pretty sure we will not see the holy s--- peal back the onion moment they do at the end of each year, when the world gets bigger in an instant, but I do think this year's twist could be better than last year's flash forwards.
Not really a spoiler but on the island moving thing... I think folks who like to think too much about this are going to see it play out and say "dang, I should have seen that coming!" Just a little bit to fuel speculation and mind-wandering.

Just a wild thought, but I wondering if the island moving may not necessarily be a geographic movement, but rather a chronological movement.

One funny thing about last night's episode for me was this..... earlier in the day when I was out on my run I was thinking about the show and I thought about "the numbers" and how they used to be such a big deal and that there's never any mention of them at all anymore. Sure enough in the episode what does Hugo see when he gets in to see but those same numbers! I don't expect them to ever explain them really, but it was neat to see them again.

I was disappointed how little they got to. If I remember right the finale was supposed to be 2 hours over 2 weeks, but then they were given another hour. It sort of looked like they only had 20 minutes worth of extra, with some filler.
That said, I thought the coconut and whispers with Hurley was one of the funniest things they have ever done, assuming of course that it was the party we heard. And who do you think is the other man, besides Sun's father, that Sun blames for her husband's death?
Should be fun next week. Poor Ben, without a plan. :) And who here seeing all that explosives in the boat thought back to the commandos putting some sort of transmitter on their arm and thought "Hmm... guess it wasn't an IPod for the flight."

Well, as a setting-up-for-the-finale episode – I liked it.
I sooooo did not recognize Claire’s mother at Christian’s wake. Very ironic that she commented to Kate that Aaron was beautiful. LOL And, I suppose that’s another small mystery solved (Jack knows he’s Aaron’s uncle).
Nice to see Nadia again. I really love the Nadia/Sayid love story (along with Des and Penny's story) sooooo much more than the Juliet/Jack/Kate/Sawyer quadrangle.
I can’t believe no one questioned or freaked out about Claire going off and just leaving Aaron. All these “tracking parties” to find the bad guys, to follow Jack and Sawyer, etc – and no one tries to find Claire? (I know Sawyer said they looked for her for a day, but still…..)
Ben is such an interesting character. Seemingly despondent and not-in-control after Alex’s death – last night, he was back to good ol’ Ben. “That’s none of your business, John.” :laughlol:
Interesting that Sun turns into a bad-a$$ once she gets off the island. Wow – she sure stuck it to Daddy Paik. :eektf: I think the other person (did she say “two men” responsible for Jin’s death or “two people”?) she blames is herself. That must’ve been soooooome settlement they got from Oceanic (if Sun had enough to buy controlling interest in her father’s company). I wonder if Hurley’s Oceanic settlement money is cursed like the lottery money.
I’m trying to figure out how the Oceanic 6 will become the Oceanic 6. Sun and Aaron are on the freighter. Sayid and Kate have just been captured by the Others (BTW - that scene was a nice nod to The Hunting Party ep where Jack/Locke/Sawyer were surrounded and Kate was brought out as an Other hostage). Hurley is at the Orchid with Locke and Ben. Jack is with Sawyer. The Oceanic 6 are pretty far-flung from each other right now. I wonder how circumstances will reunite them (and possibly separate them from the non-Oceanic 6).

This show keeps chugging along. The plot is moving fast and furious now-- Lostaways getting shuttled to the boat, the freighter folks trying to torch the island, Locke and Ben following Jacob's advice, and Kate and Sayid captured by Others. I enjoyed the flash-forwards of the Oceanic Six (and the confirmation that Aaron counts as one of them).
I think it's a good bet that the finale will kick arse. I'm thinking it might involve a Claire mini-flashback about what happened when she saw her father in the jungle.

My assumption about how the Oceanic 6 will come together is that everyone will find themselves on the freighter - Sun and Aaron are already there, Jack and Hurley are near the helicopter and Kate and Sayid are presumable heading toward the helicopter too.
Since the freighter is rigged to the gills with C4, my best guess is that they will have to choose 6 to take the dinghy and leave. Now if this is the case, it brings up a lot of interesting questions, like why does Jack go when he seems dead set on being the self-sacrificing hero? Also, why only 5 adults and the baby, when they could probably fit an extra adult? (Although I suppose Hurley probably counts as two...) Still, that's the only way I can see 6 of them in a situation where they're washing up on the shore of another island - the helicopter wouldn't fit them all, and wouldn't that be a bit suspicious?
Also a little curious about how quickly they accepted Claire was gone, although you'd have to think that they'd be wondering about the three red shirts from that previous episode, and they certainly didn't voice that.
Psyched about the finale. The ending of this episode, where they were just showing the different groups heading towards their fates, got me totally pumped. It'll be interesting to see just what they do with those who are left behind. I am assuming they won't die - at least not all of them - and will rejoin the show once the 6 find the island again (which I am guessing will be the plot of the next season.)
(Oh, and baysox usher, I think your guess about the movement of the island being chronological is a good call.)
I liked the episode. Good set up for the finale.
Jack's sutures ruptured, but he didn't seem to show any effects when they were on the plane back to civilization.
Best part for me was when Locke says to Ben, "I thought you said you didn't know why the freighter people were here?". "I wasn't being entirely truthful." "What HAVE you been entirely truthful about?" And then Ben walks away with no response.

I was unimpressed with the middle portion of the season, but these last 3 episodes have been very good, IMO.
My big question for the night is who was Ben communicating to with the mirror?
I'm guessing that the "other man" responsible for Jin's death is Michael. I had been very bored with the Sun/Jin story, but I loved the scene with her and her father in this one.
Very curious and confused as to what the heck is going on with Claire.
And as Witchy Chick said, I also love how Ben goes from basically submitting to John's leadership last week to being his old self this week. Pretty cool.

I'm confused about the Claire/Christian/Jacob stuff too...but whatever. I'm not particularly psyched about that plot thread.. apathetic really.
I thought Ben was signaling Richard and the other Others. Any reason to not think that's why they came down toward the Orchid? It was just coincidence that they ran across Kate and Sayid first?
And I wasn't thrilled about Ben's night and day characterization this week and last. I thought it didn't make sense, and was indicative of different styles of writing the character. I could accept the idea that Ben was still traumatized over losing his "daughter" last week, but he really seemed to be clueless and almost despondent about losing his "pull" to John. To see him swaggering about this week, and being flippant to Locke didn't ring true to me... too sudden. But whatever.. this week's Ben is more entertaining, so I'm not going to let it bother me much.
The episode was somewhat blah for me. Nice job setting up the finale. I was mentioning to Witchy.. it's different that we (almost surely) know the "cliffhanger" for this season before it happens... island gets moved (whatever that means)... Oceanic 6 leave the island... present meets future... the big question mark is where we go from there.
It's still gonna be a long two weeks... and then the BIG wait for next season.

Didn't she say it was two people, not necessarily two men? Or are you giving us a spoiler? ;)

OK, maybe this is far-fetched, but is it possible that Jin doesn't actually die? After all, for whatever reason the Oceanic 6 (at least the ones old enough to speak ;)) are obviously hiding the truth about what really happened. The plane crashing in the water, only 8 initial survivors, Kate being pregnant when she was on the lam and giving birth to Aaron on the island.....maybe Jin being dead (and even the headstone in the cemetary) are just part of the ruse? But if so, Sun is sure doing a good acting job.

I think there has been a lot of specualtion that Jin is actually alive. In fact, if you ask a lot of LOST fans more probably believe he is still alive on the island. I'm starting to get the feeling that he really is dead though. Now, it could just be that she can't get back to the island or isn't allowed to go back to the island so he is as good as dead. However, it seemed Sun was too distraught at his gravesight and is too vindictive with her dad. There is a difference between not being able to see and be with someone you love because the are away and knowing they are dead and gone and IMO her actions lead me to believe the latter. I assume we will find out in the finale.

Thanks for that link, Tank, pretty interesting.
One interesting note in there is that it's a popular fan theory that Abbadon is Walt all grown up. I don't really think that makes much sense, but I thought it was interesting. To me, one of the more interesting mysteries of the show that hasn't been answered (and had sort of been forgotten) is what makes Walt so "special"? I hope that doesn't just get brushed aside.
Also, have we learned anything yet about Keamy's (sp?) motivation?
