This movie is made for 3-10 year old boys, and that is about it. While you might be able to play the cool girl with helicopter angle to get girls interested, they better be in the same age range. While the moral of the movie is pretty obvious, even to these kids, the movie itself is hard to watch.

Not hard to watch because it is so bad, but just hard to watch because of all the trippy special effects. Go for the entertainment of young boys, or the nostalgia of a cartoon from our past...stay for the Matrix meets Willy Wonka on LSD.

I'm torn by this movie... (haven't seen it, didn't even know it existed til a few days ago.) I (and my two sisters) WORSHIPPED Speed when we were 3-10 year olds. We'd race home to watch Speed and Capt. Chesapeake.

While I love that a childhood FAV has been made into a movie... the potential for disaster is almost imminent. :(

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. If you're going to remake an almost 30 year old anime series, you are gonna have to tread carefully, and the style that the Wachowski siblings (can't really call them brothers anymore) chose seems to me to be a respectable, but ultimately wrong, choice.

I still can't believe how overrated the first one is. Decent SF movie, but some people say it changed their lives. Really? Really? Jeez, read a book sometime.

I liked Equilibrium better. Christian Bale beats Keanu hands down. It's like someone took the matrix and decided to make it awesomer. :awesome:
