I'm not sure what the point is actually. You get more personal messages and can hook up more directly? How is it different from PM's - or are PM's now defunct? I feel sort of "less manly" axing folks to "be my friend". :o When social groups are established will it take on more meaning?

I'm not sure how the 'friends' feature will shake out to be honest. As MChance said elsewhere - we're all basically friends already. It was bolted in with the other stuff though.

If anything it gives you a quick entry point to your friends' profile.
