I say it is my favorite Grandslam to watch. It starts this Sunday.
Just filled out my bracket and have some thoughts.
--Nadal got screwed. Possible path to the "final four" features Martin Vassallo Arguello, Youzhny/Chela, and Nalbandian/Murray.
--Djokovic was repaid for such a bad bracket for the Aussie Open (not that it mattered). IMO 2nd easiest path for the top 4 players. He has a rough possible 2nd round match in Miguel Angel Lopez Jaen but the rest of the bracket is against players that really don't have the game to beat Djokovic. Unless Djokovic gets hurt or plays a terrible match I see him a Berdych fighting for the "final four".
--Federer got the easier bracket which is fair since he is the best player in the world by rankings (even though he isn't playing like a #1 anymore) I see Ancic, Karovic/Monaco, Cilic/Gasquet path to the final four. This is very easy and I would be more surprised if Federer isn't in the "final four" than I would for Nadal.
--Davydenko hits the ball so great and gets killed because he never beat Federer (0-13 I believe). I think it is unfair because Federer IMO is the greatest tennis player of all-time. Davydenko got screwed like Nadal with his path to the "final four". Ljubicic, Ferrero/Tsonga, Robredo/Stepanek, and Ferrer all stand in his way to get to the "final four". Since it is so tough I have Ferrer beating him in the Quaters which isn't an upset since Ferrer is such a great clay player.
--I have Federer d. Ferrer and Djokovic d. Nadel. I actually have Djokovic winning his 2nd grandslam which would make it two in a row.
--Another things to note:
Best 1st round match to watch - Wawrinka v. Kohlschreiber.
Best possibly 2nd round match to watch - Tsonga v. Monfils
Best possibly 3rd round match to watch - HANDS DOWN - Robredo v Stepanek
Player to watch out for: Marin Cilic. I actually have him making it to the 5th Round losing to Federer.
