I've liked a lot of their stuff but their latest "afterlife" is just a fantastic rock song. The solo is unbelievable.

I totally agree. After I heard their first two songs "Bat Country" and "The Beast and the Harlot" I told my buddy that this is what Guns and Roses would be had they come out 20 years later.

That's funny you say that because the first time I asked myself, "Who is this band?" it was because I thought they sounded like G'NR at times.

Hey Tony, if you dig them you really should listen to Dragonforce.
Link to a youtube video of them (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jgrCKhxE1s)

How is it that I'm the only one who noticed the name is wrong? :)
It's Sevenfold, Ton. Hence the fans referring to them as A7X.

I don't bite the hand that feeds. If Tony wants to call the sky green and the grass blue, I'm not going to stop him.

Hehe. Different strokes, I guess. I'm sure Tony knows I'm just looking out for him. He actually probably knows it's Sevenfold and just goobered the thread title.

Gotcha. Grass is blue. We're all standing on the other side of the room from Wedge, in case you were wondering. ;)

That's ok, I'm still trying to figure out which one of you at the Hangout game was talking smack about me to my wife...
Got to give her credit, she won't give you up, but I'll eventually find out. :p

Well, you can count me out, as I haven't met your wife. At least I don't think I have. And any smack I talk about you is done far from Camden Yards ;)

Well, I doubt whoever did it knew it was his wife...or their really not bright. I mean, who talks smack about someone to the guy's wife and thinks "that won't get back to him?"

I had a very nice conversation with Tony's wife about the nice camera he bought her. If anything, I was talking him up because he really got her a nice camera, but for the most part I was complimenting her on the photos she had taken.

Uh huh.
"Hey, that's a nice camera."
"Thanks. Tony bought it for me."
"Oh yeah? That's really nice of that jerky puppy kicker."
Isn't that how it went down, Wedge?? Isn't it???!?!?!?!

Not to derail the thread even further, but that Flextone. Eventually I'll test drive it. Odds are I'll take it off your hands, because it's definite upgrade over the modeler I have now.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. Yep, you completely derailed it. Just to kick it in the ditch a bit more, how computer savy are you? If you can completely expunge the spyware that has taken over my home PC, your price will go down considerably.

Check your PM box. Hope it helps, though a complete expunging is pretty hard to do.
Which reminds me I need to run my weekly scans.

Just kidding. It might have been me, though. I'm pretty sure she was telling the people behind us about the site and I said, "Meh...I hear the guy that runs that site is a jerk!"

Nah, I asked her if it was that statement and that it was done in jest as we have a running joke about the jerks (mainly me) that run the place.
Actually, it was something to the effect of, "Is he a dictator around the house as well?" Probably meant in jest from the crowd that was out there unless a Sunspotter somehow snuck into our ranks. :D
Either way, I think she took it the wrong way. No biggie (he says as he continues to use his secret subliminal interrogation techniques to find out who said it) :laughlol:

I like A7X myself. Pretty much everything they have done has been good. Don't really care for Dragonforce (or the other bands mentioned in the earlier pages), though the RockBand game, or whatever it is, fully advanced their sales and downloads.
Usually, I like the music, but the singer has to be pretty key too for me to give it a listen. Love Dream Theater, King's X, Clutch, Sevendust, 3 Doors Down, Alter Bridge and many others. Have too many cds to count, since I worked in Christian rock and metal radio for a few years.

Avenged is great for working out...Almost Easy definitely was added to the favorites list on my mp3 player.
2 Avenged Sevenfold songs came out for Rock Band today. "Afterlife" and "Critically Acclaimed". Pretty good.

I just beat their Guitar Hero 2 song on Expert mode. "Beast and the Harlot," I think it's called.

The drummer, twirling his stick, reminds me of this Crue classic...

That's one of my favorite Guitar Hero songs to play. Even though I suck and can only beat the medium difficulty setting. :(
I saw A7X up in Anchorage, and even though they played a sub-par show compared to the shows they usually put on, they're still an impressive band to see live. I recommend it if/when they come through these parts again.

Can't believe I never updated this thread with my thoughts on their latest album, "Nightmare."
Without a doubt for me this was their best album to date. I don't know if the death of their drummer (The Rev) really inspired them or not, but this album is great start to finish.
"Buried Alive" is an absolute classic with shades of Mattalica mixed in. "Danger Line" would be an absolute classic video if they would just get off their duffs and stop touring and make a video about this soldier dying in battle.
The title song "Nightmare" is also very solid and I've enjoyed beating it in Rock Band 3. I just wish they would put this entire album on Rock Band so I could play the whole thing.
The eeriest thing about the album is the song "Fiction" written by the The Rev which started out with the title "Death". It was the last song The Rev wrote for the album, and when he handed it in, he said, 'That's it, that's the last song for this record'. And then, 3 days later, he died."
The piano in this song is eery and almost has a Phantom of the Opera feel to it and the fact they use some of his vocals make it all the more eery. Either way, it's a good song.
The album ends with the epic "Save me" that's basically four song in one, but somehow it works!
