I was wondering, prior to 1954, were most Baltimorians Senator fans? :scratchchinhmm:

I have always hated Washington teams(Senators, R...skins). I will NEVER refer to the Washington baseball team as anything other than the Senators. By the way I hate the Redskins more than I hate the Steelers. I was an International League Orioles fan.

When I was a kid, I used to hear my Dad and the neighbor Dad's talking about how they used to go to see the MiL Orioles... at Municipal Stadium (on 33rd St before Memorial Stadium was built there), and at the old Oriole Park (at 29th and Greenmount, which burned down).

Never a peep about going to see the Senators.

ps: Going to DC was more of a trek then, it took longer...

Interesting you should mention this. A few years back I did a report on the O's coming to Baltimore and if there was any significant impact on the Senators, ticket sales and attendance-wise. I'll see if I can scrounge up the numbers and all.

There wasn't much talk of the Senators in my interviews; people noted that the team was there but not many Baltimoreans traveled down to DC to attend games.

My dad was 19 when the Orioles came to town. (He went to the opening day parade and caught a foam ball the O's were throwing to the crowd. We still have it.)

Anyway, he was never a Senators fan.
