And how soon do you think he'll join the team?
Actually for this matter, not just Beckham, but whoever we take.

My guess would be Aberdeen if he gets signed quick enough.

College players will go to Frederick and the HSers will go to Aberdeen.

College players will go to Frederick and the HSers will go to Aberdeen.
HSers usually end up in the Appalachian or Gulf Coast leagues after being drafted. Most top HS prospects start their first full year season after the draft (next April) in Low A ball - for the Os that would be DelMarva. Lesser HS prospects likely would start in Aberdeen in their second year of short season ball.
College guys usually end up in Aberdeen after being drafted and would be candidates to start their first year of full season ball at DelMarva.

Thank goodness someone's got it right. Most HS guys would start in the Gulf Coast League but an advanced bat like Beckham supposedly is, would most likely start at Bluefield, UNLESS there's a protracted holdout.

Why even speculate about this, less than 24 hours before the draft? Let's just see who they pick today and what the team says (if anything) about where he'll start out. And then there's the small matter of getting the player signed.

I want this
"South Carolina's Justin Smoak, a switch-hitter and strong defender who has drawn the obligatory Mark Teixeira comparisons. He hits for average, hits with power and has soft hands and nimble feet around the bag. The complete package. "

Yup, me too. I think Smoak fits us best.
I just have a nagging feeling we'll pass him up for Matusz.

And Smoak could start in Frederick and possibly get to play with his buddy Wieters. Then again Wieters will probably be in Bowie by the time Smoak signs.

I would accept that choice though. He might be a real good one.
