Ugh! That reminds me of the summer I worked in Bar Harbor and tourists would come in talking about "BAAH HAABAAAH." Then somebody came in and opened a gift shop called the "BAA HAA BAA" shop. It had a little logo of a sheep. Last I was there, it still seemed to be open. I guess some people are so un-self conscious that they're willing to give people money to make fun of them.

Oh dear God. Olson throws it into right field trying to pick off Jacoby.

and as I'm typing Markakis can't even pick up the ball. Looks like it might be one of those nights...

Millar didn't exactly make an extraordinary effort to get to that throw. I'd like to hear JT81's take on that.

Now Drew gets a double on Markakis' bobble. Apparently the Boston official scorer is RShackleford. :laughlol:

Ok so correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Olson has had in the first inning: a wild pitch, a throwing error, a stolen base, a double, a single, two walks, and a 3-run homer? Really?

OK just a quick recap of the sound fundamentals in that inning:

all around atrocious pitching by Olson
Olson's bad pickoff throw
Millar's weak attempt to corral Olson's bad pickoff throw
Markakis bobbling Drew's "double"
Olson's WP that could have gone as a PB against Ramon who has no idea how to block pitches of just doesn't bother

Did I miss anything? At least we can hope we have made our full allotment of sloppy mistakes for the game.

Wow DT just mentions as an aside, "there's Olson just standing there not backing up 1B." DT is a straight shooter, just love the guy.

The problem with this is that he seems to play favorites. Olson seems to be on his :cussing: list for some reason, so everything he does Trembley will just blast publicly. I don't think that's the best way to motivate your nervous rookies, to put it mildly.

There are other guys, some who have earned it by playing intelligently most of the time but also some who haven't, who Trembley would never talk like that about.

you could be right. But I suspect Dave views teaching as an important part of his responsibilities and it does look like Olson has room to learn. Being a teaching coach will mean we'll have players who better be willing to learn. I like that in a team.

I find it hard to believe DT would bite his tongue on a sloppy play no matter who it was.

Listen to Dave's explanation next time Millar or "Nicky" screws up and then see if you think he reacts exactly as he would if it were Olson or one of the Hernandezes. It just seems to me that listening to Trembley there are certain players he always defends and others he's a lot more apt to criticize.

You appeal the length of the suspension, which means, you postpone the start date until your club is ready to deal with the players absence. For instance, you'd want to "drop" the appeal the day after a starting pitcher pitches.

The MLBPA must have put a bunch of dilatory measures into the appeal process when negotiating the CBA because it's pretty much a joke. How long can it take to examine an appeal when every single game is recorded on multiple cameras and you get game reports from four on site umpires?

He might be officially gay, straight or bisexual, but this is utterly immaterial because he has clearly taken himself as his own love object and pleasure as his sexual preference. Particular professions, such as modeling, waiting tables, media, pop music and, nowadays, sport, seem to attract them but, truth be told, like male vanity products and herpes, they're pretty much everywhere"

Maybe the first one will make it. Millar made it a little comedy skit by throwing the ball back to Roberts over toward 2B while he was still on his knees so Brian had to dive to the other side and came up laughing his head off. Since it was funny and involves a former Red Sock and a current one getting robbed it might just make the web gems.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrosexual Sorry ladies.:laughlol:

This is why it drove me crazy when I was a TA and had to deal with students trying to quote Wikipedia in college level papers. The whole point of metrosexual is that the guy is heterosexual (you know, what it rhymes with) but seems kind of gay in terms of hair, clothing, etc. Basically, just a guy who isn't too hung up on gender stereotypes to put some effort into his appearance.

My favorite use of the word by far, though, was Howard Dean calling himself a metrosexual to an audience of women during his presidential campaign. This is a guy who infamously likes to buy suits at Sears and when the get so old that people tell him he needs a new suit put them through the washer and dryer and go back to wearing them. He was trying to say that he was sensitive to women's issues and wasn't exactly hip to what was then a cutting edge word.
