OK, perhaps this is the best spot to ask this question, in the 2008 Orioles Media Guide, they have in the all time Orioles roster section, Brooksie having worn the jersey numbers 5,34,21 and 6. Honestly, I don't remember #6 and I even tried asking someone at Brooks' web site and the Orioles themselves about this number and have yet to get an answer.
Does anyone have answer to this question, was #6 a legit number for Brooks and if so when did he wear it or is that a typo on the guide?

I believe he wore #6 at York in the Penn League. In the very old days, guys could wear all sorts of numbers..Mickey Mantle wore number 6 for a while, and a bunch of other numbers in the minors.The greatest #6 for me on the Orioles.and sometimes I still see him out there...is the great Paul Blair!

Brooks wore #21 in Sept '55
He wore #34 in Sept '56
He wore #5 from 57-77.
I have no news about him wearing #6. Maybe he did in ST or something, beats me...

According to baseballalmanac.com (http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/player.php?p=robinbr01), Brooks wore #40 in 1955, #6 in 1956, #5 and #34 in 1957.

He wore #34 in Sept '56
He wore #5 from 57-77.

According to this site Brooks never wore number 6.
They seem to have a comprehensive list of everyone who has played for the Orioles.
