This category is for movies that were panned by the critics, didn't last long in the theaters, and yet entertained you thoroughly.

My nominee is Barb Wire, which is sort of a cross between Casablanca and Blade Runner, set in the future, starring Pamela Anderson who spends the entire movie running around in a skin-tight, low cut leather outfit that is sexy as hell. I saw this on an airplane on a trans-continental flight, and liked it enough to watch it again when I flew the same route a few weeks later.

Starship Troopers. I liked it so much I am even tempted to watch the direct-to-video sequels that I know will be horrible.

Russ Meyer's Faster *****cat, Kill! Kill! ... kinda the Barb Wire of its era.

Starship Troopers is up there for me as well.

And hey, I think I've mentioned Killer Klowns From Outer Space before. :D

Grindhouse, or more specifically, The Planet Terror half. Yeah, I said it.

Starship Troopers is definitely one for me, too.
I'll probably think bout this one a little more because I know there's more...I tend to like most movies.

I liked the Death Proof half more (*sighs* ... Rosario Dawson. <3), but this was a good one, too.

I agree on Starship Troopers.

Do the Gremlins movies count?

If rottentomatoes is correct then I am among the very few that liked the movie "Are we done yet?" starring Ice Cube, Nia Long and John C. McGinley.

I think McGinley's (Dr. Perry Cox on Scrubs) jack of all trades character in this movie is hillarious.

I laughed throughout The Mummy II in theaters and actually really enjoyed it. Not sure I'd watch it again though.

Deep Blue Sea was on HBO last night... surprisingly good for a smart shark B-movie. The first time you watch it, there are some good shocks to be had.

I'll also throw Dolph Lundgren's The Punisher out there. I hated it when I saw it when I was like 12 because it was so much not like the comics, but I bought it on DVD a few years ago and realized that it actually wasn't really all that bad. Much better than the stupid Thomas Jane/John Travolta version.

Lou Gossett beating up the pizza guy in the original was worth the time and the money.

I hope the new one finally gets it right. Third time's a charm.

Anyone remember the movie "Krull"?

Great fairy tale kind of story, with decent special effects for its time(the early 80's).

I loved it when I was a kid, and I still watch it if I catch it on tv.

Tron.

My XM receiver glows blue when it comes on. Makes me feel all Tron-y.

Krull is the ****e. I own it. Starship Troopers is awesome as well. I think i read the book.

Army of Darkness beats them all though. Oh... and Dune. That wasn't quite a B movie, but the critics hated it.

I thought Ang Lee's Incredible Hulk was entertaining, which I guess makes me the only one. Not sure that counts as a B movie though.

To this day, I still hate clowns. That movie has burned my soul; I went to Cirque Du Soleil a few years ago and had front row seats. Before the show starts they have clowns that run around and do stupid stuff. I was enjoying my cocktail, when everyone was staring at me and laughing. Needless to say, I jumped up and ran...no joke...i hate clowns.

Dune has a great story but didn't have the best acting. The acting was passable though.

Of course sometimes when it looks like bad acting it could actually be bad directing. I've come to realize this more and more when I watch SciFi original movies. With actors that have been pretty good in other movies but look totally horrid in some of the SciFi movies.

Dune was marred by the "oh crap way too much exposition to cram in, oh I know, we'll be able to hear characters thoughts!"

Two of the main criteria for a B movie are:

1. low budget

and

2. relatively unknown actors

I was talking about the original David Lynch movie, not the Sci-Fi mini-series.

I love me some "B" movies, but mostly horror. Some of my favorite "B" movies;

I Come in Peace
Night of the Demons (part 1 and 2)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Satan's Little Helper
It's Alive
Freaks
976-EVIL
Reform School Girls

Night of the Demons are my favorites though. Campy, classic horror with some really creepy parts and of course hot young girls which is a "B" horror movie staple.

You know what's funny? I totally forgot there was a SciFi mini-series. :o
I was talking about the movie also. Lol!

For some reason all the bad movies I've watched recently on that channel popped into my head as I was typing about Dune. Which made me draw the analogy of bad acting/directing to it.

Cop and a Half is one of my all time favorite movies.

Event Horizon may have been the scariest movie I've seen in theater.

The Ring stole the whole transporting through TVs premise from Shocker, another one of my favorite movies from back in the day.

Major Payne is the business.

Starship Troopers is an obvious classic.

That's all I got for now.

Oouu, oouu, I've got one! "Time Bandits" was funny as H-E-double hockey sticks! I used to watch it when I was a kid and I liked it even though I totally didn't get the humor. But I picked it up a few years ago. Remembering how much I liked it as a kid, and found out it is LOL funny.

Cabin Fever, I saw this way before Hostel came out and enjoyed the hell out of it. I haven't seen Hostel, it looks way too violent for me, but Cabin Fever had the perfect balance of horror violence and horror schmaltz.

They couldn't afford to spend too much on lights so most of it was shot outside during the day.

As a loyal MSTie, there are several B movies I would recommend.

Godzilla vs. Megalon

I laughed my butt off at Jet Jaguar... Good times!

Godzilla vs. Mothra - one of the best monster movies ever!

Pod People

and last but not least

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians- the movie that got me hooked on MST3K.

If you're gonna go all MST3K on me, at least throw some shoutouts for Time Chasers, Hobgoblins, The Pumaman, and my personal favorite: Space Mutiny.

Does PCU count? I think it does.
Clerks was a film class movie.

The remake worries me.

I just saw in the credits of the writer/director of the Death Race remake, Paul W.S. Anderson, what looks like a remake of The Long Good Friday, yet another movie that doesn't need a remake.
