I don't think this pitching match-up favors us in any way. And I'm probably understating this.

Very very curious to walk Overbay here. I know Barajas is a free swinger, and Overbay is not, but why take away the free base with a wild pitcher on the hill? Even with the fact that Overbay is a lefty, this is still an odd one.

As soon as he walked a guy, Trembley was out there, decisively. Good....Liz's early starts were a lot like this and he really loses it quickly in the 6th inning or so. I bet Trembley would have tolerated a base hit, but not a walk after the team had just given him a 3 run lead.

That's an example of how stats can be misleading... since Liz rarely gets past 5 innings, I presume that means the O's are averaging 4.5+ runs when he exits.. the presumption being we'd score another 4.5+ the rest of the game for him which is just silly.

Since when has a 6th inning man been the "go to guy"? DT has done the right thing by putting him in less pressurized situations. I don't feel that putting him out there in the 6th inning with a 3-run lead makes him the go to guy.

Good point. I think going from anyone to Bradford has to be a shock, not just based on velocity, but his delivery. But the more velocity the prior pitcher has, the more shock value. Sarfate certainly fits that mold.
Maybe we can trade him to Detroit. Zumaya followed by Bradford, or vice versa. Now that'd be next to impossible to top for shock factor.

You've missed a suprisingly entertaining season so far.

Of course not. Bradford is very good at what he does.
He just had a spell of bizarrely horrible luck earlier on, with seeing-eye singles, etc.
It appears to be over, he finally seems back to normal.
Isn't it time for you to say something....

Well we were actually in first place in April. Now we are fighting the Jays for 4th place.
But to make it short you've missed LUUUUUUUKE!, Flat Breezy and the rebirth of Orioles Magic.
That Adam Jones guy has been fun to watch too...

Well, I hope it was worth it, because this season has been the most fun I've had watching baseball in a long time. Really, no kidding. It's been way better than the record looks, and the record doesn't look that bad.

Okay, if Kevin Millar was programmed in Madden '09 as a kick returner, how far do you think he would get on average provided he takes the ball on the goal line?
I say his season high is the 10 yard line, with an average starting drive at the 5 yard line.
Does Madden account for clubhouse chemistry though? Would Millar being on the Ravens make Kyle Boller a decent QB?
Sorry, Madden comes out next month and I'm already getting the fever. Can't wait to go to training camp next Wednesday.

Luke Scott, LF, good quick strong bat. Put one on Eutaw St just recently.
Flat breezy is George Sherrill the closer. Flat wide brim on his hat looks goofy.
Plus Adam Jones, aka AJ, appears to be the Real Deal in CF.
Good times.

Luke Scott finally filled the gaping hole in LF. Everybody yells "LUUUUUUKE!" when he does something good. And that's quite often. The dude hit the Warehouse on the bounce from Eutaw St in the Detroit series.
George Sherrill who we got in the Bedard trade is our closer who has an extremely flat brim on his hat. It's called the Flat Breezy look and that's why Sherrill is Flat Breezy. The whole team flips their lids up at the end of the game that Sherrill saves to honor him.

SouthernBird,
Jim Johnson has also been a great story. He came into the BP early on and has dominated to the tune of a 1.95 ERA.
Also, 6'5'' barely 20 year old Chris Tillman who was the prized prospect we got back in the Bedard trade is 7-3 at Bowie with a 3.11 ERA. He's struck out 94 batters in 92.2 innings, but has walked 48. He appears to have a ton of potential.
As for the AAA staff which has made it's way to B-More, they are taking a while to settle in, though I haven't lost confidence. Olson has shown poise at times, but struggles with pitch selection/control. Liz is very young yet and doesn't appear to be too comfortable out there. The learning curve is pretty big right now, but management is doing the right thing by getting them a lot of innings.
Guthrie has been lights out most of the year, but doesn't have any wins to show for it. His lack of run support this year has been ghastly.
Oh yeah, and we've lost 15 in a row on Sunday this year. We won the 1st Sunday game against Seattle and are 1-15 on the year.

If we played on Sundays at the same rate that we play on non-Sundays, then we'd be tied with BOS for 2nd place, 1.5 games out of 1st, but ahead of them on pct, with the 4th best record in MLB.

The interesting part is that we haven't been too far off from winning a few of those games. Obviously the Nats Ronnie Belliard game comes to mind, as well as the Angels game earlier in the year when we fought against Saunders (Who had an ERA close to 2 at the time), but lost 6-5. In fact, 8 of our 15 losses on Sunday are 1 run losses. But that's just how baseball works. It's a funny game, and the Sunday swoon has certainly been one of the more interesting things I can ever remember since being a baseball fan (only about 15 years to run off of here).
