Why can't Guthrie teach the rest of our pitching staff what he knows? Throw strikes, keep the ball down, and don't go deep into counts.

Other guys are too afraid to throw strikes, Olson's fastball barely goes about 90mph. Burres is a young southpaw Steve Traschel, Dcab throws it, albeit not well, but he does.

You sir are correct. When I met him in Anaheim (we stayed at the O's hotel), he was hanging out, shootin' the breeze with us, just a down to earth guy that you could not help but root for.

That's true, but how much would it cost to bring Burnett to Baltimore? I'd be willing to bet he'll be looking for $10-12 million a season. Are you willing to spend that over multiple years for a guy who may not be able to stay healthy but for 140 IP?

It gave us a SS that was capable of playing at least ML quality defense, which is something we are lacking except for Fahey. We now have two stopgaps, neither of which should be playing every day. I have not seen many of Cintron's games, but I have had questions about his defense at SS for a while.

Sickening. That couldn't have come at a worse time.
Yep, that one hurt.

That slider that struck out Rios is why Bierd could be the seventh inning guy for the rest of this year

Stepped out for a bite to eat, come back and my whimper turns into an implosion... I think we can safely say 3/4 lost in this series w/ Halliday in game2. Really disappointing... This team just didn't look like it came out to play today. I put much of that on Trembley....

And that walk and hit batter is why he might not, lol...

Well put, but I have more confidence in Bierd than I do a few others in the pen

If we can take a positive from this game, it's that Bierd can be our 7th inning guy.

I'm a supporter of Trembly, but I can't help but agree here, the team just looks flat today and with Halladay to look forward to int eh next one, a series split is gonna be tough.

As it has been for most of the season one of the major differences in today's box score, the Blue Jays have 6 "free" base runners (5 walks and a hit batter)and the O's have 0. They both have 8 hits, but the Jays have 5 runs and the O's have 1. Will the Orioles ever not lead the league in walks? My former college coach would say just watch batting practice and if you had 8 defenders on the field the batter would get out at least 50% of the time even when he knows what the pitch is going to be. So why not through the ball over the plate and take your chances when he does not know what is coming.
I have been an O's fan for 25 years, but the walks absolutely drive me crazy.

It's the day game blues that have plagued this team all year, which is we suck on Sundays.

Bad swing by Scott there to end things, the walks didn't kill us today as much as they did in the Olson start, but with Cabrera throwing game 2, theres still time for us to rack up the walks

What do you expect DT to do, wake them up, make their coffee, lead them in calisthenics and give them a pep talk before the game? Millar made a bad throw. $*** happens. It's baseball. Deal with it or take up watching field hockey.. or better yet curling:laughlol:.

That certainly wasn't very encouraging considering we get Halladay in game 2.
A deflating effort.

Doesn't change the fact it was a blah game that we really needed to win to split the series. Agreed Millar just made a bad throw, but our offense basically did nothing and looked lethargic. And BTW, neither field hockey or curling sounds very appealing to me, how about basket weaving....

A deflating effort. We just ran into great pitching.
Burnett was sick last night, and Toronto's got a great bullpen. With Halladay going in the full game, Cito knew he could use up his bullpen as much as needed to shut the door.

Explain to me what DT can do to change all that?
