Haven't seen much AC/DC talk around here, so I thought I'd try and start an interesting discussion around here.

Who do you like better as AC/DC frontman: Bon Scott, or Brian Johnson?

For me, it's Bon Scott. As much as I love Brian Johnson's work with the band, I love the bands work with Bon better. I've always thought that Bon's work with the band gets overshadowed sometimes by the monstrous success of Back In Black.

That being said, not many bands can go from having their lead singer die to releasing one of the top selling albums of all time, which is why I give Brian Johnson mad points.

This really isn't any contest at all.

I heard on XM that AC/DC will be on tour next year.

Yeah, supposedly their new album will be out by the fall, followed by a tour.

I've never seen them live, so I hope they make a stop around my neck of the woods.

Brian is not a bad singer... I've seen AC/DC twice, with Johnson both times. Both times his voice was destroyed from touring.

Bon was the :cussing: man!!! A true blues singer.

So torn. Bon was great, but also had the benefit of not being around for their inevitable decline. None of their albums with him are bad. Anything after For Those About To Rock is dicey.

But still. What record was I listening to on my way in? Back in Black.

I abstain. This is too difficult.

Brian Johnson, to the best of my knowledge, never wore a pink dress and pigtails onstage.

Set and match: Bon.

No, but he does have an action figure (http://www.metalshop.cz/xVP-figurka_ac_dc_(brian_johnson_and_angus_young)_2_pa ck_302_42080). That's gotta count for something.

Clear a space on your mantle, drekkie — so does Fred Durst (http://www.action-figure.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=196). :p

Personally, if I'm clearing space on my mantle it's for this (http://www.metalshop.cz/xVP-figurka_sex_pisols___set_johnny_roten,_sid_vicious ____309_diaserie_12,13) set...although Glen Matlock would be a better choice than Sid V.

Here's one reason Bon was great: A friend of mine (a bit older than me) saw AC/DC in the 70s at Johnson City's Freedom Hall. It's a smallish arena with a concourse walkway going the whole way around, dividing the upper and lower seats. At one point during the concert, Bon Scott gets Angus on his shoulders and runs the whole way around the concourse while Angus played.

Wish I coulda been there. He was the kind of wild guy a band like AC/DC needed as a frontman.

This shouldn't even be debated.

99% of the great AC/DC music was written during the Scott era (the other 1% being Back in Black, which was dedicated to Bon and other various singles like "Thunderstruck")

Agree with Pedro on this. Outside of Back in Black, AC/DC is pretty mediocre since Bon Scott.

Agreed on the post BIB being iffy. But oh, Back in Black.

Oh, they were a better band with Bon. No doubt about it. They lost a lot of the humor and swing. I don't think they'd have done a song like Love Hungry Man with Brian. Still, Back in Black is soooooo good. I listen to parts of it almost every day.

Yeah dude, I agree. Bon just had that humorous aspect to his aura, which turned out some pretty great tunes. I still get chills when I hear the opening riff to Hells Bells.

Might be the only time it's acceptable to be called, 'dude' btw ;)

And my bit on that record is the prechorus to What Do You Do For Money?

And I wonder
Yes I wonder!

When I saw Johnson and the boys, from the floor of the old Cap Center, :D They lowered this huge bell. Like 3 feet in diameter. Johnson was banging on it with a sledge hammer. :clap3:

Can't see him doing Ride On (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdiiQ3phfbc) tho. What a tremendous song!
