Once upon a time there was a problem with the board being cluttered with frivolous polls. For awhile they started a separate "Orioles Related Polls" section to keep the main board clear of them, but then at some point when the board was reorganized they let polls back in the main forum but only posters with a little experience (I can't remember if it's 100 posts or being a plus member but something like that) can start polls. If you hang around and contribute to discussions, you earn more privileges.
On a related note, you might want to try to post in existing threads most of the time and only start a new ones if you're starting a brand new discussion that isn't covered by any other threads. I noticed that you have only 20 posts and have started at least half a dozen threads already. Joining in on the discussion gradually instead of trying to jump in and take it over will probably help you get acquainted with the culture of the board faster. :)
Just one more thing... not to pile on, but there's no "i" in "Arbutus." ;)

I hear the new solution to frivolous polls if for TonySoprano to take ChaosLex out back and introduce him to some *friends*. ;)

Polls are a plus member feature.
Just checked it out, and apparently they're not, since I can post one. You can go ahead and delete that thread now if you want.

Betcha can't do it in the main forum. :D
It's only restricted in the Orioles forum I believe.
Ah, I see now. That does make sense.
And I know I posted one in the music section, so I really didn't need to waste .2% of my free posts testing that out. Oh well.

The trick to creating polls is magic. Honestly...magic. The spell is recorded in a place that only Plus Members can go.

I'm a plus member, but I can't create a poll. Are there new requirements now?
Works for me. You just have to go to post a new thread, and in the new thread page towards the bottom there is an option to add a poll.
