Oh man, I love that city. I'm gonna be at 9.5 years next summer when I have to transfer, so I'm going to leverage them (again) into getting what I want or I'll walk. And I'd have no problems with walking, but if I can get a good station after this I'll have 1 boat tour and then 1 land tour and I'm at 20.

Navy isn't the same as we are about the transfer stuff. I've talked to some Navy peeps about it.

The wife and I have talked about a few places we'd like to go, NOLA being one of them (Baltimore, SD, PacNorWest, Great Lakes being the others).

It depends on our rate. They just merged mine together with Radioman equivalent and Radarman into OS. OS for us is IT for you. Crypto, Combat, Radios, etc....we mostly do Search and Rescue planning on land billets.

My rate is about 60 afloat/40 land once you get to chief or above. So I'm good at E-6. Our OS1 is about 25 afloat/75 land. You need to get on a boat at first class because of the prereq time to be able to take the servicewide for Chief, so those afloat OS1 billets are pretty hard to get. And I certainly don't want one. I've been on land since 2001, and I won't get sent back to a boat (most likely) unless I request it.
