My roomates and I were discussing this watching the beach event the other day (and how smoking hot Misty May's body is).

Do the better volleyball players play indoors or on the beach?

My guess/argument was they played beach, because thats where the money is professionally. Is there even a pro indoor voleyball league? It also seems more challenging with less players on the court and a tougher surface to be quick and jump on.

Does anybody know?

I think most of the top one's play beach once they get out of college. Both Misty May and Kerri Walsh played indoor when they were in college, Walsh played indoor in the olympics as well.

Based on my google search, I don't believe there is an American pro indoor league.

They were talking about how it's such a huge transition from indoor to beach with the surface change (and the fact that the teams are only duos in beach) and that you have to be a cut above to excel at both.

Watching both the men and the women on the beach after watching lots of indoor (working games at TU) I'd have to say beach is way more difficult.

Misty May > Kerri Walsh

That's as far as my volleyball knowledge goes.

Seriously?? Misty May? I don't know man...she's fit, but smoking hot?

Agree with everyone who has posted, there's a higher level of talent in beach. The difference in surface makes it a slightly unfair comparison, but only the very best indoor players can move up to beach.

Indoor still has a lot of talent though and it's fun to watch in its own way. The strategy is more intricate with 6 instead of 2.

You have to look past the bad skin (problem for all beach players) and realize that she's 5'8 or 9 despite looking like a midget next to Walsh, but I agree with you. And she's definitely in better shape now that at some times in the past.

She's also probably the best volleyball player I've ever seen.

What are you people talking about? The blonde is the hotter of the two by a country mile.

Walsh is one of those women who I'm like 'is that the same person?" when viewed from different angles. Because she has some man-ish periods (especially while playing) and there are other times when she's pretty darn hot. It's weird. But I would agree that May-Treanor is more attractive overall. Maybe its because she reminds me of someone I went to high school with and always thought was good looking.

I still want to know what the hell she's wearing on her shoulder though. I bet they've explained it, but I was flipping between something else, or distracted, or something, when they did. I mean, I know they explained during the second Rogers/Dalhauser match about them wearing sunglasses frames with no lenses because they were fogging on them but they had a sponsership issue, so they had to have explained that weird ass thing on Walsh's shoulder.

Walsh had shoulder surgery so the black gauze is supposedly there to help with the recovery.

That's gauze? Space age I guess, how it sticks by itself and is sectioned and "patterned" so weird. :D Well, there's some sort of explanation at least. Thanks Mr. Unscrupolous Mobster.

I love May and Walsh as much as the next American, but it's getting a little old hearing about how historic it is that they're the first ever to repeat as Olympic champions. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the sport makes it debut in 2000? So basically, there's been one opportunity for a repeat.
