At the plate, he's been great so far. However, it's only been 16 AB's. Way to early to tell if he can be a consistent ML hitter, but he's earned the opportunity to be given a chance. It would be nice if he could get 100-150 AB's the rest of the way. Let's find out if he has a future with the Baltimore Orioles.

Agreed - especially if he can develop into an above average LFer. That would allow us to move Scott to DH, deal Scott, or deal Huff and get some decent ML talent in return.
By the way, nice play by Montanez as I'm writing this!

I really want him to get a real look at Montanez the rest of the way. Pitchers haven't seen enough of him yet to know how to pitch him. They will. We're building for 2009 and beyond. We need to know if he can sustain his success once the pitchers have made their adjustments. And if he can adjust as well. I don't want to go into 2009 without a good idea if he can handle LF as the primary starter.

I definitley think he needs to hit as much as possible for the rest of the year. If you can get him 100-150 AB's, you will get a better indication of what he can do next year.
