I just watched a guy win the 100-meter dash, and break the Olympic and world records with a time of 9.69, and do it while celebrating and decelerating before the race was over.

Bolt is FAST. He could have broken 9.5 seconds if he ran straight through.

I said the same thing to my wife. I was like, why the hell did he start grandstanding, he could have made a mockery of the world record, but it was almost like he was saying "I'm so good, I know what I could do and choose to grandstand..." It's not like he started 5m away from the finish, he was at least 15m out.

All that means is he's the World's Fastest Thread-Starter.

My sister's boyfriend was watching the video online earlier today, and when he told me that happened I didn't believe him. I still don't want to believe my eyes.

Simply insane.

The guy is amazing for sure and I can't wait to see what he does in the 200 as well (MJ's sick 19.32 may be in jeopardy), but I think saying he would've broken 9.5 is a bit of a reach.

That performance seems a little too unreal. Maybe I'm being skeptical of track sprinters and their propensity to do whatever it takes to win, but that race seemed a little too amazing. He basically flew by a guy that ran 9.8, which is FAST in itself. Bolt would have had a 9.59 if he didn't showboat. A 9.59 is going 30mph+, which is practically inhuman. Now I wouldn't be surprised to see Bolt get the WR in the 200 , but I also wouldn't be surprised if we see him in the news for testing positive for something.

He probably gets a huge bonus from his endorsement people every time he sets a WR. It's in his best interest to set a WR but not run as fast as he can. Whenever the next big meet is, he can run it faster.

Hate to say it, but whenever someone blows away the competition in a race that fast, you gotta wonder if they're doping or not....just a sign of the times.

He's from Jamaica, so I doubt their version would be considered performance-enhancing.
