What do you guys think?

I think it is a lot closer than people realize.

Of course, the US has to win the gold medal still.

I also think it's closer than most people think, but would give a slight edge to the '92 team due to their better big men and MJ(even though he only shot 45% in the olympics).

I think some people make the mistake of looking back at that team and thinking Bird and Magic were at their peaks or close to it, which they were not. Magic was coming off his first year of retirement and Bird was coming off his final year. Stockton also barely played due to injuries.

I will say that the edge's that the current team have are they play better as a team due to playing together longer and having to play more as a team due to better competition and better athleticism/speed/quickness.

LeBron is also a one of a kind athlete that the '92 team did not have and would have trouble matching up against if these two teams played against each other.

No. Players back then were a lot more fundamentally sound than today's players. That gives the 1992 bunch the edge.

But the teams they are facing today are way better than what the 1992 team saw.

I'd go with the '92 team. Obviously the talent of the competition has increased exponentially and a team like Argentina could give them some challenge. I still think they'll win every game by at least a dozen. But that '92 was loaded. Although Johnson had retired, he was only 31. He just retired because of the HIV diagnosis, so he wasn't ancient. Bird had the really bad back and wasn't the player he was just a few years prior. But with MJ, Barkley, Malone, Ewing, Robinson that team was unbelievable.

I like this team. They have great balance. But I'd give the nod to the '92 team.

I would give the nod to 1992 because of MJ but this team is more talented and much more athletic.
