Kevin Smith. Feh.
Though I suppose I'll have to go see this as it was filmed in Monroeville and I have to "support the local scene." Tom Savini has a cameo ... god willing as a machete-wielding motorcyclist.

If the movie is as funny as the trailer, I may need to wear an adult diaper while watching it...cause I just might p!ss myself laughing! Damn, that was funny!

So, like, does that skinny stoner and that chubby quiet dude appear?
(Actually, I really do want to see this movie. I'll have to watch the trailer...when I get home from work, I guess :laughlol:)

Skinny stoner (Jason Mewes) was definitely in the trailer, but he seemed to not be playing Jay for once, as was Jeff Anderson (Randal from the Clerks movies). Dunno if Smith himself will cameo or if he's staying behind the camera.

Can't wait. I love Kevin Smith and Seth Rogen.
This should be hilarious.

I would imagine quite a lot of discursive riffing. Perhaps involving expletives? Am I getting warm? ;)
And, for the record, I'm a Smith fan (not so hot on Rogen), but I think he may be running out of ideas. Hope I'm wrong.

Kevin Smith is a GOD! For two reasons IMO.
Dogma. nuff said.
And for being Silent Bob! Do you realize how hard it is to be that funny without saying a word?

See, I love him for Chasing Amy. I still think it's his best movie by a wide margin, and his only actual 'film.' As a person with a signed copy of Mallrats and a t shirt from my visit to Silent Bob's Secret Stash, I believe I can call myself a real fan. But Jersey Girl? Whew, bad.

I didn't think the trailer was that funny... I think the Apatow brand has surpassed the Smith brand, and this trailer reflected that. I do enjoy the cast, and I am still a Smith fan, so I will probably be checking this out, but the trailer didn't exactly have me in stitches.

Awwwww, Jersey Girl was cute. A departure for Smith, but a very good film.
God, I miss Carlin already! :(

Absolutely love everything else he's done though.

I love all of Kevin Smith's movies. He is hilarious, Dogma, Mallrats, Clerks, Clerks 2 just for a few are so funny. I cannot wait for this movie to come.
It actually received an NC-17 rating, but they challenged it and got them to lower it to R, or else it would not have done with the box office.

To be fair, it's not gonna do much box office either way, even with Rogen and Banks in the leads. He never has made huge bank, but he does tend to make a profit.

I'd say if it gets decent reviews, it will probably be his biggest box office hit. I'm not talking like 40 Year Old Virgin or Knocked Up numbers but pretty good for a Kevin Smith movie.

Yeah, it probably has that chance, but look at Mallrats. At the time, that had a cast of "hot" people (well, Shannon Doherty counts, not sure about whichever London brother was in it) and financial backing, but it probably had too much financial backing. Is Zack and Miri similarly low budgeted to the rest of his stuff, or is it in Mallrats territory where it was generally considered a flop (though he does say he let the studio change too much because he didn't know any better back then)?
And what is his highest BO movie to date? Dogma? Maybe Chasing Amy, that got a lot of huge buzz with all those Indy Spirit awards. I'm also discounting Jersey Girl not because most people disown it (I actually like it, for what it was), but because it wasn't one of his comedies.

I love Mallrats, but I don't think it necessarily had a cast of "hot" people. Shannen Doherty had just been fired from 90210 and while Affleck and Jason Lee are pretty big stars now, they obviously weren't then. It depends on how you look at it because except for Mallrats, all of his movies have made more than they cost. Strictly looking at profit margin, Clerks and Chasing Amy are his biggest hits. But looking at the most money made at the BO, then it would be Dogma. It made a little bit more than Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back at just over 30 million...I think that a Seth Rogen led Smith film can make at least 50-60 million.

My point was that people knew who Doherty, and even to a lesser extent, London, was. Unlike some of his other stuff.
