I have a long drive tomorrow afteroon, roughly 7 hours to go white water rafting. Looking to pick up something to fancy my ears for the voyage. Need some help making a selection as I usually go in there saying I will buy something and head to the hip-hop section. Last year I bought a comedy CD which was good for about 3 listens and have no idea where it is.
The guy that is riding with me is an O.A.R. type guy. I listen to mostly hip-hop but have plenty of CD's of other genres.
Any suggestions to satisfy both musical tastes, I enjoy all listens.

Well I was going to suggest "Cruisin Music" by the Raspberries, but that doesn't quite sound like your thing.

I'd recommend a DVD for the trip:
Cruising (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruising_(film)), starring Al Pacino.
In New York City, body parts of men are showing up in the Hudson River. Police think it is the work of a serial killer who is picking up gay men at bars and then raping them and mutilating their bodies. Officer Steve Burns (Pacino) is sent deep undercover to the urban world of gay S&M Leather bars in the Meatpacking District of the West Village in order to track down the killer. He rents an apartment in the area and befriends a neighbour, Ted Bailey (Don Scardino) a young gay man. His undercover work takes a toll on his relationship with his girlfriend Nancy (Karen Allen) and leads him to question his own sexual orientation.
Burns mistakingly leads the police to investigate the waiter Skip Lea (Jay Acovone), who is forced to [ ] and [ ]in front of four detectives in order to provide them with a [ ] sample. Burns is disturbed by this police brutality, and comes to believe that the police are merely motivated by homophobia. Outraged, he almost quits his job. However, he is convinced by his boss (Paul Sorvino) to continue the investigations. In the end of the film, Burns thinks that he has found the serial killer, a gay music student, who attacks him with a knife in Central Park. Pacino brings the man into custody, However, soon afterwards, the severely mutilated body of another victim, the young gay man Pacino had befriended early on in the film, is found and the case remains unresolved. In the ambiguous finale, Pacino's girlfriend tries on his leather peaked cap and he wipes off his make-up and looks directly at the camera.

Any 80s Hair Band music helps me get through a long drive. Also Dave Matthews Band does as well, that is because he has some live songs that are 25+ minutes long. One CD can last for half of a trip sometimes...

I always liked old ZZ Top for cruising. Their stuff just swings for that. Chevrolet. Goin' Down To Mexico. Mexican Blackbird. Neighbor. They all rock.
