And again, the Orioles can't score a runner from third base with less than two outs. Something tells me they're not going to get a lot of opportunities like that against Shields.

Seems like no one is here, but Olson looks pretty sharp through two. Is this the pitcher he was in the Mil?

I stand corrected. Sweet Lou with a two-run blast puts the O's on top.

I am starting to come around on this Montanez fella. I honestly was doubting whether he would have a future with the big club. But he can really hit.

Hopefully. It always took him a little while to adjust to a jump in competition. He was pretty darn good once he got comfortable. Let's hope he's gotten there.

Don't know if it's Olson moreso than the Rays. Mediocre pitching is this teams' bain.

But I do agree with your earlier point Paul, Shields is a darn good pitcher and we need to take advantage of the opportunities we have.

We have scored two, but I believe that we have left four on.

Cintron...E6...Argggggggggggggh!

Strike three called, Rays leave Bartlett at second. Olson has three Ks after three. Looking solid.

O's go 1-2-3 in the bottom of the third...Shields mowed through that half-inning

Cintron continues to kill the Orioles defensively.

Cintron continues to kill the Orioles defensively.
And once again, immediately after I post something, the opposite happens. Cintron smoothly fields a double-play grounder to end the inning.

Omir Santos gets thrown out at second on his first major-league hit.

Good job by Olson to hang tough and get the strike out on Zobrist.

What is up with our starters being awesome for the first 4 innings and blowing it in the 5th recently

This is getting ugly. I would love to see Olson get out of this and get through the sixth.

I thought Fahey hit that one out, and I subsequently almost passed out.

Woh what a shot by Fahey to right, I went back to mlb.tv and saw the replay and then they showed Fahey on 2nd, I was so surprised

What a cruel inning. Fahey manages to hit a double and of all people to squander it, Huff grounds into a DP.

Well, fudge. Runners on 1st and 3rd with one out and Huff grounds into a DP. Huff is not having a good night. Two Ks in addition to the DP.

The blast off of Markakis' bat didn't help much either.

OK, It's time to pull Olson.

I'm only following on Game Day. But only getting from 1st to 3rd on a double; failing to get that runner in with only 1 out; allowing a run on a throwing error by the pitcher; only getting from 2nd to 3rd on a single; failing to get that runner in with only 1 out.

baseballnelie

There goes the lead, I thought Olson could at least get one more inning in after struggling in the 5th

baseballnelie
09-23-2008, 06:48 PM
Wow what happened to our hitters after the 2nd inning? Did they just lose all their patience at the plate? Shields has just been getting out of the innings with single digit pitch counts since the 3rd

Haha nice site. I think I'm going to go re-up my supply before the start of the second game tonight and not even think about the 9th and maybe something good will happen
