There seems to be forums for most areas of interest here, but we're missing a reading material/ book/ magazine forum. We've got at least a couple of former English teachers on here, and I for one would love a place to get suggestions for what to read, a place to discuss various things, and maybe even a book club of sorts down the road.
Thoughts? Might help the off season go a bit easier for those of us not interested in football. ;)

That would be great... hopefully Tony, an author himself, would be able to incorporate it. :)

If you can find 20 people that are interested in it i'll see what we can do... They'll need to respond to this thread.

As an avid reader of both books and magazines, I'd contribute to the discussion in that forum. Should it arise.

Absolutely, I'd participate. As a former English teacher and unrepentant book snob, I'd love a chance to hear about what other people reading and share some favorites of my own.

I spend hours in my vehicle for work. And I spend it listening to audio books. Just finished Stephen E Ambrose's, Pegasus Bridge (http://www.amazon.com/Pegasus-Bridge-June-6-1944/dp/0671671561/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223401975&sr=1-1) for the umpth time. Up next will be Peter Hart's, The Somme (http://www.amazon.com/Somme-Cassell-Military-Paperbacks/dp/0304367354/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223401667&sr=1-1).

I'll sign the petition.
Looks like we already have more interested participants than half of the sub-forums already here :D
(Could this be the first time an online petition ever accomplished something?)

I'm in. Be cool to have "writing" under the forum's umbrella too.

I would likely contribute if it were a book I've read. I feel pretty strongly about a lot of the books in the English curriculum (at least at Centennial in Howard County) so I'd be ready to fight with the English teachers :)

I don't know how much I'll contribute, but I know I'd read that forum regularly. We get some posts in the 'MLB' forum on books with a baseball theme. I'd think if you're trying to instigate baseball discussion, the posts would still belong up there. But if you're reviewing or discussing the book, it'd belong in the proposed new forum.
My current reading: 'The Kitchen Survival Guide'. Next, maybe 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being'. I have it, and I keep hearing from a few people (both guys and girls) that it's really good.

Count me in. As an independent bookseller, I must read a lot (61 new books so far this year), and I love to talk about cool new books and the best of the backlist.

You're a little late to the party, but cool! :) Just go to the last subsection of Hangout Community and you'll find us book hounds.
