Turns out the wrist injury is pretty bad (ligament tear) and he has to have surgery.

Blatche is going to see a lot of time. Which I think can only be good for him and the team. Too bad david harrison was picked up today, he would have been a nice security policy at the end of the bench.

Well, let me just go ahead and give everyone my most well-thought out feelings on the situation:

That was my head slamming against the keyboard.

I wouldn't be surprised if we missed the playoffs this year.

Boy, that Arenas contract is looking worse and worse...Now, they aren't going to have much flexibility because of it and are really going to have their backs against the wall.

It will be a small miracle if they make the playoffs this year...way too many injuries and too much money tied into those who are hurt.

This has nothing to do with Gil's deal. If Gil gets healthy and comes back 100%, he is going to be the type of guy we all remember.

We were gonna spend that money this off-season. And we had no way of knowing about Haywood. It's not like we'd just have 100 million dollars sitting around now that Brendan is injured to go find ourselves a big man.

Honestly, I was more upset about the Jamison contract than the Gil contract. I think Blatche shows himself to be a dynamic 4 in this league this year, and we may be looking to unload Jamison's deal by next year.

This sucks, Brendan finally turned himself into the player I thought he could always be last year. Not the next Shaq that I had hoped for when he arrived at UNC, but a very serviceable starting center in the NBA. Hope for a quick recovery.

Of course Gilbert's contract is an issue here....They don't have much flexibility..They can't go out and do much and of course, Arenas is hurt and out till at least December.

From the guy who usually says don't judge long-term contracts in year 1.

I really don't even see your point here, almost every team, at least the one's who are trying to win now, are right up against the cap. And trades have to come close to matching up payroll wise anyway. What would they do right now if they hadn't spent the money on Gilbert?

Not sure...Don't know what is out there...Perhaps they could have Artest in the offseason?

Bottom line is they have no flexibility and the Arenas contract was terrible and the Wiz will be looking to get rid of it within 3 years.

Haywood has nothing to do with Artest. Nor does Gilbert. So your comments about Gilberts contract hasn't had anything to do with this thread.

If he continues to have injury problems, you will be right, but a healthy Gilbert(after he comes back) is worth the contract.
