If anyone has any questions about boating, fisheries stuff, how to scam a free tow from us, or anything else, feel free to contact me. I worked Search and Rescue in some form for 4 years, so I've seen a lot and know quite a bit.
For some of you guys that are still in high school (or just a few years out) and might want to know more about joining, feel free to contact me about that as well. I promise I'll be brutally honest.
And no, you don't have to be 6 feet tall to join (in case our boats break down so you can walk back...the Navy comes up with the best jokes :D)

You know what? Give me a legitimate position and you'd be ahead of most people.
Pirates...not that I can recall. I don't think I've heard any stories about that either. Probably because we don't go to Southeast Asia or the Philippines much. The money in the Caribbean nowadays is in smuggling (either drugs or people).

I work alongside the CG on rescue calls and such up here on the North Coast. The guys we have on the copter are great, really friendly too. I got a ride on the Dolphin last year, what fun.
By the way, I'm an old Squid. So don't tell anyone I was nice to you, Puddlejumper.:D
McNulty, see my thread about recruiting IT guys for State. I'm heavily involved in recruiting CG ET/IT ratings as they are the perfect fit for us. You guys run your ESU's the same way we run our regional tech centers.
Oh, the Bertholf is a fine looking boat by the way.

You been involved with the search and rescue of the missing NFL players at all? I'm guessing no (especially since I'm pretty sure you were moving from FL sometime around now), but I was wondering if you had any insight or anything from the Coast Guard's end.
