Oh poop, he just broke his ankle bad, Quince Orchard cornerback Travis Hawkins suffered a severe ankle injury on Saturday while filling in for the Cougars' injured starting quarterback.

Hawkins then had his left leg rolled up on while plunging into the end zone on a sneak. The bad news was twofold for the red and black; the touchdown was disallowed because of a false start, and Hawkins had to be carted off on a stretcher.

Hawkins had an MRI Monday, and the results were not available at press time. [Quince Orchard head coach Dave] Mencarini said the ankle was not broken, as initially feared, but that Hawkins "will miss the rest of the regular season at least." http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/college/recruiting/2008/10/weekly_recruiting_roundup_49.html

Keith Cavanaugh said earlier on WNST that it's just a sprained ankle (or otherwise not-broken).

"You know what hurts the most? The lack of respect.

Well, except for that other thing. That hurts the most.

But the lack of respect hurts the second most."

My bad brosef let me explain, I wrote that post at 12:15 but forgot to push submit before taking a couple of my students out to lunch. When I came back I saw the post still up so I pushed enter only to find in horror that you had already posted the commit and that it was perfectly reasonable to perceive my thread as a slight on yours.

Maybe the upcoming rep will heal the wound? Again, I am sorry (but lets use this thread since it already has a few posts on it so I win!)

The four-star cornerback from Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg committed to Maryland today, picking the Terps over offers from Penn State, Michigan and Oregon, among others.

“It’s a great day for him and his family,” Quince Orchard head coach Dave Mencarini said. “He’s really excited. [He announced the decision] in our auditorium [in front of] our team, family and friends. It was really nice. He’s really excited about the opportunity that’s ahead of him. He’s very comfortable [with] his decision.”

According to Rivals.com, Hawkins is the 19th-best cornerback in the country. He’s rated the No. 199 prospect nationally for the class of 2009.

I saw him play against my high school this year. In that game, he got injured and was fairly unimpressive, but I've heard great things about him. It's awesome that MD got a commit that all the big schools were fighting over.
