Hey guys,
I know that it's probably just for one more day, but since 1: I'm against this proposition, and 2: open discussion of political stances is frowned upon here, I find it really odd that I'm getting ads telling me that I need to vote yes on this California proposition to protect traditional marriage. It's not listed as a google ad, though it might be one. It's in between the "Minor League Info" and the "Minor League Extra" sections.
Just thought I'd throw out my two cents.

Google Ads. No control. The fact that it's a CA ad gives it away that it's picked up on your cookies and therefore a Skynet, er, Google Ad.

These ads in particular make me cry.
I wasn't sure because I didn't get the "Sponsored by Google" at the bottom of them.

I was under the impression that pretty much all the changing banners were Google...it might not say "sponsored by Google" because it IS political (and they don't want to put that particular saying on a political ad), but it might be generated by Google.

It is a Google ad.

Honestly, you are second person to complain about the google ads and to tell you the truth, I don't get it. Just because someone buys advertising from us does not mean we support the product or in this case political opinion.
We are a business that makes money off of advertising. I can tell you right now that if either candidate wanted to by an ad from us we would have certainly taken their money. Google ads feed you ads that they think would be of interest to you. I can tell you, I never saw either ad that people complained to me about because there's obviously not too many political cookies in my cache. :D
We can't go around and worry whether people like the products or not. We do not allow political talk on our message board for good reason, but that does not mean we won't accept advertising from either party. As long as it's not offensive, I don't see the problem really. They have every right to advertise their opinion and you have every right not to pay attention or not click on their ad if you don't want to.
Either way, we won't have to worry about these ads anymore after today thank goodness.

I'm just really impressed that people are paying such close attention to the ads. I guess we have them in the right spots!

Well, until the first candidate announces their candidacy tomorrow :laughlol:
And you have to admit that if you were logging onto a baseball website based in Baltimore and saw not just an ad from California but a POLITICAL ad from California, it would be somewhat disconcerting.
Hell, I know how "Google Ads" works and it would probably still throw me off.

Yeah, but the OP does live in CA...

I think it's because it didn't say Google Ads, or if they don't know how Google Ads work, they think the site is letting themselves be sponsored by the particular ads. That'd be my first and best guess on why it raises flags, anyway.

I get the CA part, but even so, when I'm looking up Baltimore Orioles prospects, about the last thing I expect to see is a bombadment of ads about California voter propositions. So yes, I was thrown off. And as Wedge pointed out, the fact that said ads were not labeled, "Ads by Google" or "Sponsored Links" or something similar to that also threw me off.
I understand that you have limited control over Google ads, so I certainly wouldn't have posted if I knew from the beginning that those ads were Google ads.
